New to BMW and new to Pre ordering

I was planning to test drive a 1 Series this weekend and I didnt because the weather was bad. Of course when if I did get there I would have found out what I found out here and thats the fact that they arent in production yet. The BMW website needs to state that lol.

Anyways how do you go about preordering. I see post stating dealers have a certain amount of orders they can allocate. How did you guys order yours? What kind of deposit do you put down or do you pay out like you are buying the car right then and there?

Thank you in advance for answers to my noobish questions

You can call, walk-in, or e-mail the dealership and ask about pre-ordering a 135i. You tell them what you want (your build) and request a quote. You will have to put down a deposit of anywhere between 500-2000 or even more.. but most people put down 500-1000. Deposits should be fully refundable. When the car arrives, you pay the difference or if youre financing then you finance. Thats the general bit.

Not quite true. They are in production and on their way out to the US as I type, in fact they may even be being offloaded right now..

In my case when I walked into the dealership, the sales rep said they had 2 135s in their initial allocation, and since they hadn't been built yet I was able to custom order. Mine got built on the 6th and is pending shipment. Gave a $1500 deposit and paid MSRP.

No problem.. I used to just lurk around the site but I eventually signed up (but still kept lurking). Only relatively recently have I started putting some input in since I decided to go after the car. Hopefully my SA will get back to me though!!
