Keeping car from downshifting?

Trying to do some 3rd/4th gear pulls to relearn my JB4. Is there a way to keep the transmission from downshifting(2012 DCT) so you can do a full third gear pull? Or is the only option basically flooring it in first from a stop and shifting up twice?

Just have the car in manual mode and slow down to about 2000 rpm in 3rd and go WOT from there all the way through 3rd and as far into fourth as you safely have space to.

You have to put in a kickdown blocker. There's a very easy and inexpensive DIY on another tuning website. Check your PMs.

Put it into manual mode and select 3rd gear. If you put it into manual it should not downshift. It will automatically upshift when you hit the rev limiter unfortunately, but it should not downshift unless your revs drop too low in order to keep from stalling somewhere <1000 RPM.

As long as you don't push the pedal past the point of resistance to where it hits the kickdown switch, you'll be fine in manual mode. If you're not familiar with the kickdown feature, check behind the pedal- you'll see the assembly.

Get a piece of wood or some rubber pads and stick them under your throttle pedal. Make it thick enough so that you can not press on the kick down button

Yep just avoid the kick down button. Some people DIY some sort of spacer tot avoid the kick down. I might be able to dig it up in the E90 forum.

Can you still hit 100% throttle without hitting the kick down?
