Oil filter housing gasket

After replacing starter n putting together everything i took apart. Car turns on. (: Bunch of chimes and then the engine icon shows up on dash and now car is in limp mode ): tow my car over to dealer, get a loaner and the next day i get a call from my sa that the oil housing gasket is leaking oil. Ask how much is it to fix? He replies $882.90. Says this isnt covered by the SULEV warranty.. ): does anyone know if this is a difficult gasket to get to n repair on ur own?

OFHG on a N52 is super easy when an oil change is done; there are no coolant lines thru it. I think N51 is likely the same.

I hate to be that guy, but this has really been covered in so many areas with plenty of youtube info out there. There is one specialty socket you'll need to buy...

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

with that socket, you don't have to remove the intake. Do a search on this forum and a general search via google and you'll find all the info you need for a DIY. It's not a hard job if you have basic hand tools. If you replaced the starter, then replacing of OFHG should be a simple task for you.

Make sure the socket you use works. The videos I've seen state you need a 1/4 inch swivel with E10 on 1 end. VIM tools, UJET410.

Yes I used a 1/4 E10 with a 1/4 springy flexible extension and it was super easy.

buy the right tool

I've just done this and a I'm a mediocre diy guy. The rear third bolt under the intake needs the swivel and the $60 1/4" drive swivel e set from Amazon broke while I was putting it back together.

Go for quality tools. A youtuber has a good procedure and stressed using a snap on 1/4" e10 swivel.
