Battery wire question.

Had a look at the battery and found a wire just floating around not attached to anything?:iono: It has a plug attachment on the end but nothing in sight that it would be attached to. It branches off a similar wire that attaches near the +ve terminal. Can any new owners please have a quick look to see if it is the same in their cars. Cheers.

what are your options? It might be for an amp for the harmon kardon stereo.

Odd - the battery in the US 135i is bigger and the negative terminal is done completely differently (no basic bare wire on the terminal).

that connects to the battery disconnect switch, every bimmer has it. it's to disconnect battery during delivery and transport. on some cars it would be under the rear seat bottom. they get taken out during PDI.

US spec cars all have IBS (intelligent battery sensor) attached to the negative battery terminal. i guess you aussies don't get that.

So I should get a cable tie and hook it onto something to stop it flopping around?

I thnk that is the 'Down Under' wire.....it is to prevent the electricty from flowing counter clockwise, causing NAV equipped Idrive cars to invert the maps.

Is the wire truly unterminated or with a harness-end? Given the smart charging electronics, it could be a thermistor. I noted that it isn't just a single conductor wire...
