No M badge on my list. I think the car has more than enough M badges in the interior already no need to add to that. Thanks for welcoming me and all the help guys.

Ok, enough of the meaningless stuff and get to the real talk. I will be picking up my new to me baby this weekend and wanted to know if there is a recommended 93Oct gas brand I should consider? I use Shell for my A6, think that should be good enough for it too but just asking. Thank God the HPFP has been replaced on this car but the injectors have not. Do the injectors fail suddenly or is there a warning to look for? Trying to decide if I should buy the injectors and wait until they go or just replace them all if they fail suddenly without warning? What is the best oil to use on this car? Last edited by 1N4ttro; 12-13-2016 at 07:05 PM.. |

I use Shell 93 as it's currently the highest rated premium gas, and i have a rewards card that gets me a nice discount. Just do a search for Top Tier fuels and make sure you stick to them. No random shit-stations for these cars!
Can't speak much to the injectors but i'm sure some searching on the forums will give you some insight.

All just conjecture cuz I'm just a 128i kid, but I've seen people mentioning misfires for their injectors failing. (& More conjecture) if you're really worried, start looking for good deals on -12 index injectors and a way to code (if you're into DIY).
Otherwise, -CDV delete (ez pz FREE 1 hour mod - and 50 minutes of that is spent figuring out how to jack up the car) -short throw shifter (mines coming for Christmas!! ) -clutch stop ($10, 10 min) -subframe bushings (either Whiteline inserts [although check my build thread], or full M3/Whiteline replacements [everyone's gonna recommend replacements lol]. I would consider these essentials, ESPECIALLY to any enthusiast (which I'd consider anyone who would bother posting their car on a forum).

Hi Folks,
That 303 cleaner link says it's for use on vinyl tops or anything made of vinyl. But they also make one for cloth tops. Here's a link: https://www.amazon.com/303-30520-Con.../dp/B000A8JNF0 Raggtopp is another popular choice. This reminds me I need to clean my top... Cheers! Craig |

I finally got her this Past Wed. Seller was nice enough to drive it to my job Wed. night since I was working way late that day. I drove it home that night and it was awesome just like the day I test drove it Thursday was snowy/rain so I kept it in my unheated garage. This morning I started it in the cold perfectly then lunchtime at work see 2nd pic. Nothing says welcome to the club like rough idle after start plus a little gas smell and of course a CEL. I let it warm up rough and after a minute or two I got a blinking CEL and I shut her off right away. Waited 5mins and started again to another rough idle but solid CEL. I warmed it up for a little while and shut her off. Started again to a silky smooth idle I was crazy enough to go for a nice drive for lunch and car has been fine the rest of the day after many start and stop. What is puzzling is that on cold temps it started fine, midday today which was the warmest start at 45F it did this. But having owned a C5 AllRoad I know a thing or two about weird and always breaking Planning on bringing it to BMW of Peabody after Christmas to see what I got + state inspection and to let my seller know what he has to fix. This is my 1st BMW experience so has anyone used BMW of Peabody and do you recommend it or suggest another BMW dealer in the north of Boston area? Thanks in advance guys.

I ended up dropping it off to seller who will bring it to his mechanic to diagnose and fix. Once I get Carly I hope I can pull the logs.

Tuesday seller tells me one bad injector and a bad fuel sensor and won't get the parts until early next week. Grrr... I asked seller to make sure I get OEM parts and he replied of course in a non-convincing way. For peace of mind I did a search for aftermarket injectors and fuel sensor and did not find any. I assume they don't make them aftermarket, Is this correct?

I thought the same but given that the injectors are a common theme on these cars I figured perhaps age plays an equal/similar roll as mileage. Maybe adding regular fuel system cleaners might help the injectors stay clean if clogging is what causes them to fail. Spark plugs and other maintenance items definitely before JB4 in spring.

I got the car back last week from seller after 1 new fuel sensor and 1 new injector and car feels better but not completely cured. On two occasions I got rough starts with CEL of course. It is going back to seller for 2nd look. Now here is my question. Not sure if the car has been doing this all the time and I had not noticed but today I had the windows down after driving it for a while. I went to shut the car off and noticed that it made some sort of a short mechanical sound at time of shut off. Is this normal? Hopefully the sound is clear enough for you guys to tell what I talking about.
