what is this? wheel woes

I own a very low mileage 135is and noticed one (1) of my wheels is starting to look like the finish is starting to tarnish.

Are these wheels clear-coated?

Or can I get a wheel pro to buff these spots/tarnish out?

That definitely looks like clear coat decay to me.

Could it be wheel acid used incorrectly by leaving it on too long or not rinsing it off thoroughly? Is it on the center cap as well or are those scuffs? Looks like scuffs to me.

Looks like chemical damage to the metal.

I've been using GRIOT's GARAGE Heavy Duty wheel cleaner. It's weird, though. The other 3 wheels are fine. BTW, I've started using their regular wheel cleaner as of this week....

Maybe the clearcoat wasn't applied properly at the factory?

In any case, how can I get these repaired or clear coated again?

Try going ham on a spot with a DA and compound if they're cleared or a friendly polish for whatever else they are
