Yes I quickly realized that so many options
Sounds good. If you can wait, you can look to do the RSFB at the same time a the suspension, may save you a few bucks in labour etc.

What tires are on your car? Some tires have softer sidewalls which hurts turn-in response

I tend to agree - sidewall/tires will have an impact. I think the toe setup will also impact. Camber plates may help here but I'm not sure - IMO that's more about ultimate front end grip vs turn-in response...

There was also a bump in response with my M3 LCWs, but that's neither here nor there compared to an E90 and F56

Agreed, good question here.

Toe will definitely have an impact on the steering feel.

Can a good alignment shop get you much past the stock settings, or do you need to start doing things like pulling the pins or adding camber plates to get a noticeable difference?

Also what is a good front camber setting on these cars (128i or 135i) that’s great for a canyon carving street car and maybe occasional track day but won’t absolutely destroy your tire life?
I have the exact setup you're referring to. M Performance suspension , E93 front sway bar , M3 control arms front and rear , Dinan rear shock mounts , Dinan fixed camber plates and Whiteline RSBF bushings. I did the Dinan front camber plates to help my OZ Ultraleggera wheels fit. The plus 40 offset was a little too aggressive and caused the front and rears to rub. Did the E90 hub swap to gain 10mm a side more space for the rears.
The end result is exactly what I wanted. Compliant but planted. Turn in is much improved with the camber plates and the car is very neutral with little to no understeer.

So the tires aren't your issue. Look into your pressure and alignment settings as already mentioned.

I mean still could be the "Soft" sidewall that the michelins have compared to a stiffer lower TW tire, but most likely not the case assuming the e90 and the mini are using comparable tires. It's probably going to be pressure and alignment like you said.

People sometimes complain about the slow steering rack in the car, I guess there's a difference between the regular one and the active steering one, but I wouldn't know, only driven mine.

But yeah, get your toe set to 0 in the front, and maximize the camber.

I was thinking maybe he had Continental's. They are popular but I've seen a lot of complaints that they are squishy.

Yea exactly this, had multiple Contis (DW, ExtremeContactSport) and never liked the turn in response.

The other thing is size, if you're running wider (and taller sidewall) tires but on factory rims, you will lose steering response. It's probably pretty small, but depending again on the tire could have an effect.

My bet is on alignment mostly.

So dumb dumb me forgot to add bushings to my sway bar order. Just to confirm, I need 2 each of the top and bottom bushings and then only 2 of the bushing brackets, correct?

Sway bar should come with the bushings and brackets if you ordered an M3 bar.

I ordered from Turner and it just came as the bar.

Basically correct, yes. The tops and bottoms won't come separately, they'll cetainly be together as a single "piece" when ordered. In this case I think you'll find it is actually a single piece with a slit in one side so you can open it up to go over the bar. Your order will almost certainly be "bushing set" x 1, and "bracket" x 2.

But yes, by your question you can tell what is needed. They might have come if you'd ordered a kit but most often would need to be separate.

Are you sure? I looked at RealOEM and it shows separate pieces for the top & bottom of the bushings.

https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=31_0804

It does seem odd as the diameter is shown as the same as a 1er bar.

Huh, yeah, good point. I was only thinking aftermarket. For aftermarket I've never seen top and bottom separate, it's just a set together or a single piece to begin with. I'm surprised OEM would show 2 separate halves, I can't think of when you'd ever want just one half but you're right that's what it shows if you order OEM. It didn't cross my mind that anyone would order OEM, my fault, because it's clearly an option.

Aftermarket wise - I think what I mentioned will be true.

Diameters can be funky because some bars will be constant all the way through, others will change / neck down in spots.

I just changed my 128i bar to a 135i bar and they are the same diameter but the tapered portion is ~ 10" vs 5". My guess is the M bar is not tapered and/or less hollow.

Since the bushings go around the thick part is does seem weird that the M bar has different bushings and brackets for that matter.

Also on the Turner page there is a mounting kit at the bottom for the ARB.

I remember looking into this upgrade and getting a bit befuddled so just stuck the 135i bar I had laying around on the car.

As an aside, i got a nice improvement with adjustable front endlinks.

Yeah I can confirm now that E93 M3 bar bushings are two separate pieces.
