Ok, so I'm the crazy MoFo that spent $60, to get in. Not a bad deal really, considering a half day BMW driving school is $400. I get to go to the event, and a good charity gets a donation; we both win.
A couple years ago I went to a track event at Mosport with a friends race team. It was in support of easter seals, and you got a ride along for $20. So I paid my 20 thinking I would get a couple laps in a nice street car. Instead I got 5 laps in a Ferrari 348 race car. Best 20 bucks I've ever spent. Any one signed up for saturday?

You would want to make damn sure you could get in to make that drive. The event was a good time but not worth the drive from Edmonton to Calgary, IMHO.

I agree, I was thinking of going for lunch in Edmonton the day I get my car just to break it in... maybe Radium instead though.

I just got nominated last week to go to the 1 series event for the 19th of April. I only had 1 nomination and maybe 4 link shares?
I just wanted to share that BMW Canada could care less about how many nominations and link shares you've done. What they really care about is if you fit their target market. Recall what you information you listed when you signed up for this event (income/age/occupation/current car etc.)? If you described yourself as a high-schooler with a sub 20k salary, and have 100 nominations and 200+ link shares, they're not going to pick you. They're inviting people who they think will make them a profit (ie. Mr. Deep-pockets who is actually looking for a new car). Anyways, hope to see those who are going this upcoming Saturday! It'll be a blast. |

I'm in, Sunday 5-7 pm. Just called my dealer and told him I wanted in. They had 10 spots which had already been filled up. My sales guy said they had to purchase two more spots to get us in.

Stefan, how old are you? I starting to agree with sonic763 that BMWCanada is looking closely at the personal info we put when we sign up. I'm only 22 so that probably raised a red flag for BMW, cause I'm not old enough to buy pants with 'deep pockets'

I'm not going to lie, but I kinda fibbed on my registration for the 1ntensity event just to ensure my way in. There are some things you can't lie about though, and that's age. Everything else is private or up to your discretion.
I'm not sure if these questions were all asked but this is what you should put if BMW Canada did: Income: Put a reasonable amount to show that you have financial stability in your life. Technically, the more the merrier but stay reasonable. 60K+ should be good enough. Previous/current car(s): Put a BMW (any series). All corporations love repeat business: easier customers to sell to, and customer loyalty. Occupation: Put something that reflects your income and possibly your education history. Again, be reasonable. Don't put lawyer, or doctor unless you really are one. I'm not condoning everyone to lie all time, but I call it evening out the playing field. Don't lie when you're actually buying something though. You might be held liable for what you claim to own/have but actually don't. There are a few spots left for Calgary. Anyone need a nomination? I hear it's going to snow. I hope they don't cancel on us. |

oh shoot, I hope it doesn't snow.
sidenote: I fit the description you write up sonic763, without lying, and no invite for me. oh wait, I don't drive a bmw, but I drive an '07. regardless, I'm in and can't wait.

I entered a few weeks ago, got my confirmation last week. Told a few friends last Sunday, they got in almost a day later.
Didn't lie on my form, plus I don't use facebook at all so I had only 1 point for posting up a link. Looks to be a blast, only problem is it might snow Sat & Sunday with wet snow expected on Friday. Oh well, Snow + 300hp RWD car = Fun  |

You'll really be able to see how the DSC works then. No need for the silica sand they put down on the first turn of the technology course.

The folks at Calgary BMW have not heard anything about cancelling today's sessions yet. The advice I received was that if you are comfortable driving in this kind of weather, then be there. I would of much preferred dry conditions, but it should be a good time nonetheless.

Just logged in to 1tensity to find that points have somehow fallen to 0. It is by far the most poorly executed contest I've been in. I really don't get the point of the 1tensity site and I have no clue what the real marketing benefit is for BMW. If anything, it makes the marketing campaign for the 1er look awkward and disjointed. I've been waiting for this car for two years, and now I've got to line up behind a bunch of facebook junkies to have a shot at a promotional event. What a load of bull...

I got in, because I have been contacting a salesman at bmw calgary for quite a while, so I asked him about the event and 3 hours later he sent me a pin.
I am 20 but not sure if the salesman knows that, so it may have been to my advantage. Oh and as I signed up on wednesday, there were only spots for friday in the morning and noon. My appointment was for today at 8 Am (friday) and for those who are saying that it is not worth going, YOU ARE WRONG, its lots of fun. I wont say much details as not to spoil the surprise of those who are going this weekend. As to the snow, well this morning it started to snow at around 10 AM just as my session was finishing so I wouldn't know for sure if its going to be cancelled or not. |
