so a guy in a Lexus is pulled up alongside me at a light

yeah, sounds like a start to a race eh??

nope, it was a middle aged guy in a 2-3 year old IS, and he was all smiles and thumbs up at the good old E90.

Nice to get a little appreciation from the competition.

This way by far the most excited person I'd seen to see an E90

he must have one on order

No wonder! Considering what he is driving. hahahaha
I have seen people eye and admire my car at the lights but no one give me the thumbs up - yet.

It is a nice feeling. Kinda makes your day.

I've only seen two other E90's. One was a woman driving and she ignored me. The second was a guy probably mid 30's, gave me a nod. The best nod I've recieved was from a guy in an M3.

I agree the IS kinda sucks...
but a friend of mine used to have a dark grey one, it was lowered and had a front lip, and it was pretty sweet (compared to the stock one at least )

Very nice

I hardly ever get love on my E90. As a matter of fact I had people hate on it. But I don't care so much really

I finally saw another E90 on my commute home. (had seen others in LA and SD, but not where I live). I was stoked to see one!

I asked my sales guy, who incidentally is a BMW fanatic himself so we talk for ages about the car, if anyone else is as one eyed about the E90. He said no. I believe him as he has no reason to tell me otherwise.

In fact he went on to tell me that most of his customers are not at all interested in the technicalities or features (other than operating features) of the car. He said this applies mainly to women.

Girls, he said that not me so don't scream at me PLEASE.

They just drive the thing and that's it.

So, I am not at all surprised that a female driver didn't acknowledge you and your car, even though she had one herself, probably because cars (even BMWs) are not high on their list of excitable items. Probably why she is not posting on this forum.

I've seen quite a few E90's on the road as of late. I think they are starting to come out in full force. Still relatively rare though, esp. Sparkling Graphite - I've only seen three or four besides mine out of the almost 20 that I have seen so far.

This is going to come as a shocker to some of you, but after being a 3 series driver for nearly 10 years (1 E36 325is, 1 E36 M3 race car, 1 E46 coupe)... I finally realized that the 3 series BMW is just another car. Ohh yes, it is a very NICE car, beautifully designed and built with all sorts of cool gizmos inside, but 95% of the people buying them are just buying another car.

I know it's kind of a shame but really, BMW churns these things out like nobody's business (Liepzig can do 650 E90s PER DAY). They aren't rare and precious jules that will make everyone genuflect in awe when they see your E90 tooling around...

it's really obvious this is true when you look around the parking lot and 3 series outnumber accords, camrys and altima's combined
(not uncommon around here)

Here in Portland, Oregon I've only seen two other e90s on the road besides mine. I know they must be out there somewhere but I never get to see one!

Where in Portland are you? I live in the REI building and we already have 2 E90s in the garage and 3 other unit owners in here have orders in. Looking out my window, there are 2 more usually parked on 14th and walking around the Pearl, they are everywhere...

The E90 is a big hit in PDX.

Yeah, I got some acknowledgement from an E46 M3 once too....

...in the form of exhaust gases blown right into my windshield as he flew past me!

Wow, that's something! Actually I live in Wilsonville and only very rarely go downtown. I guess it hasn't spread out into the wilderness yet.
