135i oil cooler lines in 128i
I'm trying to figure out how to bend/move the a/c lines to install the oil cooler. Which way did you bend them and how much (a pic would be great). Attached a pic of what I'm looking at.

Post back if you get this solved! I have been looking at adding this oil cooler to my car as well, maybe later on down the road if/when it becomes a full-on track car.

Here's a couple of pictures from different angles. Wasn't too hard, just be careful. There's a spot where the lines are almost touching so you can see I wrapped the oil lines in heat resistant tape. I checked after each track session and saw no indication of rubbing. You may need a new bumper if you don't have sport bumper to fit the duct. I bought a cheap one on eBay that will stay on during the summer and will revert back to stock one for winter when I will not need the extra oil cooling.
Overall, really happy with it. Ambient temp was only upper 60s F, but I pushed pretty hard on track and never had any power cut. Oil temps never exceeded 240F. Best part was no more oil leaks after putting in new oil filter housing and gasket! At least none at the top end. Oil pan still weeping a bit... I also installed 3 SIM, starter, power steering reservoir, silicon intake duct, did coolant flush, tune and a bunch of new hardware. Now that the car makes adequate power for the entire session, I'm running out of brakes and tires. Winter project will be F30 front calipers and 328i rears and some new rubber. |
