Rear Bushing Stoppers - steel or aluminum?

Anybody have any experience with the rear bushing "stoppers" on the 128i? Part number 33316794866. Replacements are available but they all appear to be black painted steel and the ones on my car are, I think, Aluminum. They are silver and non-magnetic. Mine are fine but was just curious.

The aluminum version (33316763411) appears to have been superseded by steel in 2011 (in both regular and M cars).

Incidentally, if you go to solid aluminum subframe bushings this stopper is no longer required.
