128i n52 exhaust

i love my 128i but want it to be a bit louder. it’s fully stock and i’ve been told muffler delete could be a good option, but unsure of it because of back pressure issues / drone. if anyone has done a muffler delete on 128i let me know how you like it, or if there’s other options to make it a little louder. thank you!

One option is to get a 135i muffler, cut her open and weld up some of the holes in the through-pipes inside. Search DIY performance exhaust and you will find some pics for more context. I've already installed a 135i muffler, but I wish I would've known that with a few extra steps i could've livened it up some more, because it is still very tame. This is the route I would go for my daily if I were to do it again.

Muffler delete is cheaper, simpler, and a direct route to what you might be after. However, many people (myself included) may find it a bit too boomy, droney, and obnoxious.

Another common route people go is 135i muffler + resonator delete. This route seems to be more common on the other side of the pond.

There is tons of info on this, I recommend trying sampling youtube sound clips with good headphones, and search search search.

my set up is catless headers + secondary cats still in place + resonator in place+ 135i Muffler with the valve always open, it is tame enough for daily driving no drone in the highway and when pushing it has a nice tone. I might remove the secondary cats next spring just to see it there is a change in volume, but I would not remove the resonator I already have the 3.73 diff so revs are a little higher in the highways and drone would be bothersome.
