Almost reaching 100,000kms/60,000miles

Hey all,

My 2012 BMW 135i DCT is approaching 100,000kms or 60,000miles very soon! It'll be a sad day, psychologically. Haha.

My car has always been serviced by the dealer and has followed BMW's recommended service schedule aside from oil change intervals. I like to have my oil changed done every 7-8k kms.

Any suggestions on maintenance items that the dealer wouldn't suggest? Should I change the DCT fluid?

Any advice helps!

Thanks,
Andrew

My 2012 DCT will hit hit 60K this week. Interested in response to this thread.

I'm in the same boat as you, always changed my own oil but that's it. Dealer changed the charge pipe twice and the coolant tank once, but that's about all that's been done besides an SIB software update.

Mine just passed 60K as well, so here are things I did\checked:

1) check\fill\change power steering fluid. Pentosin CHF11S only
2) coolant flush
3) flush brakes, including clutch
4) gear\diff oil
5) air\pollen filter
6) plugs
7) brake pad thickness
8) tire pressures\condition

were these items that the dealer recommended for you to do at this mileage or your own preventative maintenance suggestions?

Ha, my dealer hasn't seen my car in quite some time. Just my own recommendations...

Just download Mike Miller's Maintenance Schedule. He's a well respected BMW authority, writes a column for Bimmer magazine. His 30 some page free download covers everything you need to know about BMW maintenance.

I replaced my DCT fluid, filters etc. at 55k-60k. The fluid was spotless and still very clean. Filters were gunk, but doing their job well.

I would recommend servicing it, just be ware that BMWs DCT fluid is $30 a bottle. Not cheap stuff. I believe it took 6-7 bottles to fill.

I just recently hit 60K mi (now at 61K) and plan to hopefully change the PS fluid, diff and MT fluid but did notice that my car recently reached a "service" interval thru the condition-based system. Is there anyway that I can figure out what it means without going to the dealer? I am assuming it's the diff and trans fluidsor even the PS which I planto do anyway soon but just want to make sure that I am not ignoring an impt service requirement. Thanks for any help!

You can check it from the turn signal stalk on the left side. While not moving, car in part, press bc button a few times and the use the scroll button to scroll through the service menu.

BMW says the fluid is lifetime. Personally I'll do mine at 55-60k. Maint. is cheap compared to a new transmission.

Do you happen to know what a "car on a lift" icon means? That's the one I need to get done per my BC

I believe that is either service due or read the manual. ;-)

Manual said to bring it in but no reason specified. I'm assuming it's some cashgrab service interval that isn't anything I can't do. Since I am doing the fluids myself would it be a good idea to just reset this light now?

Get the Carly app and dongle. It will pay for itself time & again reading the fault codes.

If you do all the service then yes go ahead & reset it.
