After 5 years I'm finally getting my 135i

To make a long story somewhat short, 5 years ago I was dead set on buying a 135 in a 6spd. (hence the reason I joined this forum back then) I test drove at least a half of dozen of them and I finally gave up after the last one I test drove went into limp mode. So I settled and bought a CPO 2012 VW 6 spd GTI with 8k miles on it. Ended up loving the car and did quite a few mods including stage 2 and various drive train upgrades. Fast forward to today. I'm flying down to Portland to a Maserati/Ferrari dealer that has a bone stock 2010 135i with 57k miles and driving it 3.5 hours back home. Carfax looks good. Originally purchased in AZ then lived in San Fran for a while before arriving in Oregon a year or 2 ago. I have already placed a deposit on the car in order to claim in. So I'm finally joining the family and am anxious to mod the piss out of it haha. Anyone have any specific recommendations on what to look at before I drive it away? Other than fluid leaks, rust, tire condition and what not. Heres a link to the car if anyone wants to check it out. Yes I know its an A/T because frankly, I'm sick of driving a manual. Especially in Seattle traffic with a stage 2 clutch and pain in my left leg. https://www.maseratiofportland.com/i...s%20135i_Black

Good find, 2010 with low miles. If I was to get another 135i I would do the same love my 2013 but that N54 is a monster. Getting close to the 60K mile mark, so first thing I would do is throw the runflats in the trash (sell) and get a good set of tires, replace the suspension, and beef up the rear sub frame. Also for peace of mind, take a look at the oil filter housing gasket, the manifold gasket, and oil pan gasket. These on the N54 and n55 are problem areas. There's much love in this forum so pick the brains of these guys here, enjoy the 1er, and welcome.

Awesome thank you. I actually scored big time in the tire department. It came with two sets of a/s 3+ On two different bmw wheels. So hell yeah. I don’t plan on driving it much over the next few months as the temperatures drop here in the northwest but once it starts warming up I might get some PSS. I’ll probably look into Variant 1 coilovers. I definitely have a lot of research to do on things to upgrade on this car. Gonna keep it simple at first for a while.

I really wanted to but the 6hour drive from Portland to home(normally 30 mins north of Seattle) was exhausting. Especially having been up since 8:30pm the previous night. Was up for almost 24 straight hours. And it was dark. But Pics will come soon. And yes it’s everything I hoped for. Such an amazing car to drive. Also I couldn’t believe the inventory this dealer had. So many amazing Ferrari’s. There was even an SVJ Aventador being unloaded from a trailer as I arrived. I got a bunch of pics there lol.

Dude, you are making a huge mistake. N55 cars are newer and more reliable than N54 and if you want an auto the DCT beats the piss out of an A/T. That car you linked is also pretty expensive.

Congrats, I hope you get to enjoy it a lot. Something similar happened to me, bought my 128i back in 2013, & always wanted a 135i. I was able to buy it a few months ago. Today I took both out to swap the wheels.

I'm not buying a BMW for the sake of reliability. I'm buying it to be my project/summer car. And actually the car was listed ~2k less than market and was the best deal in a 500 mile radius. Especially considering the condition and options. There aren't many 2010's around anymore it seems either. Thanks for the feedback though.

Feedback is not so much for you but to prevent additional people who might see this thread in the future from making the same mistake.

Here’s one I took at home. Still haven’t had a chance to wash it as the weather has been uncooperative.

Hi! I've been reading the forum and it has helped me a lot. So, thank you.

I'm not a BMW owner yet, but I wanted to be one my whole life and now I can afford it (used).

I'm in the market for a 2010 - 2112 N55 135i with good mileage (30k to 50k mi). I don't want to mod it at all. I just love it stock.

Is there major differences between 40k ~ mi and 60k ~ mi? (Like other brands/cars)

I'm asking this because I've found some 135i's with 60k mi that are within my budget and seem to be in pretty good shape. After checking them out and testing them, do you guys think it would be a good decision? Or should I keep looking and waiting for a 40k ~ mi 1er?

Thank you!
