I find myself using only DTC...
Ever since I read about the DSC and DTC, and how you can turn off DSC and only drive with DTC, I find myself pressing the DCS button after I crank up the engine so that I am only driving with the minimal DTC. I believed that my old 2000 323 model only had the DTC (and did not have the more advanced DSC back then).
Is it good to drive around with only DTC? I don't want to be restricted with the more advanced DSC. I will drive with DSC if 1) it is rainning and 2) treadwear on tire is low and 3) icy road condition which we don't have in the central south part of US. I feel like I get more acceleration with only DTC and that is why I find myself turning off DSC. Please drive with DSC off at your own risk and caution. |

You'll be fine. (You got all the letters right but one. The button says "DTC"! )

There is no reason to disable it (enable DTC) unless you drive in slippery conditions. I only turn "on" DTC when it snows in order to enble slip when accelerating from standing start in snow/ice.
Unless everyone of your traffic lights is a drag race, DTC off (no pushing of button) is perfectly fine. |

gotcha, the DTC button. I wonder if others are doing the same? I get the impression that I get more out of my car driving experience with using only DTC and I find it fun to drive with only DTC.

Suggestion: register for a BMWCCA race experience, or a local autocross, or find a big open gravel/dirt parking lot, and use some of the time to experiment with the various levels of big brother. I find it useful to acclimate to the feel of DSC/DCT intervention, and knowing what they will do.

Your 2000 323i should have DSC also. I think that's when it became the standard. BTW, if your 2000 323i did not have DSC, it would have ASC+T not DTC. DTC only comes with DSC in the E90 for the 3 series. But I would suggest you keeping DSC fully on because you never knew when you need to manuveur out of a dangerous situation. Using DTC vs. using a full system may become the difference of a severe crash or a situation where you can get out of easily.

the light that tells you it's off it too damn annoying
if you're driving hard enough that it actually makes a difference you should turn it down a notch on the street don't be that douchebag that starts a thread, "I crashed into a pole because I turn traction control off and can't control my car" |

I always switch off DSC when it's dry. You can really get the back stepping out nicely from roundabouts and hairpins with DTC only.
With DSC on I get the little yellow warning 'flasher' telling me it's cutting in and stopping my fun whenever i gas it out of a bend! |

I had a client once who also bought a VW/Audi/Porsche dealership because he loved Audis and Porches.
Sold it about 5-7 years later after having lost some serious money ( at the end of their reign they got serious about running as a business and were breaking even/making some profit, but not enough to offset all the previous losses). Bottom line: unless you're gonna run as a real business - run. |

Have you guys seen the new magazine with comparison test of performance at the track?: DSC on / DTC off DSC off / DTC on DSC / DTC both on DSC / DTC both off Test reviews said when DSC off / DTC on, they got the best result and best maneuver ability while taking advantage of the new technology.

Which mag was this? And semantics, I know, but "DSC/DTC both on" is not possible.
