Did you put another 1,000 miles on it today?
Damn you, IEDEI -- now I have to follow the 1M forum regularly to see how you are enjoying it -- and this is NOT going to make it any easier for me...! |

your photo looks like a clean mount! i'm either between this option or 3M double sided adhesive (as they use in Europe a lot). Thanks for the info!

Damn, this thread has me thinking about selling my 1er and searching for a 1M. Must resist... I like not having a car payment right now.

Damn you, IEDEI...damn you...
::shakes fist:: There's a 1M in TX that's priced somewhat reasonably...got me thinking about flying out. My car is valued just a couple thousand below my "payoff quote", so it WOULD be doable. On the other hand, I'm planning my wedding and I just don't know if it's a good financial move at the moment. Luckily my fiancee is amazing and she's all about me getting the car I love, so no issues there. For now I will continue to live vicariously through your posts. Love the VO. I'd have to get VO or AW for mine.

Congrats IEDEI! Damn, I remember you ordered your car around the same time I did. Switched cars already?! ..... well tbh I'm pretty jealous of that 1M and the Valencia Orange colour. I can see why you pulled the trigger on that deal.

I wanted a 1M long before the 135is even came out....so I kept thinking about the 1M constantly. It was like an infection I had to get rid of! |

Congrats and welcome! You can start by telling us the differences you feel between a 135is and 1M as some people think the 1M is just a 135i with some aero body kit. Since you drove the 135is previously, I am interested in your opinion.

well let me start by saying that I really loved the 135is. it was a very enjoyable package and if it weren't for the 1M I really would have liked to keep mine as it had all the right ingredients (RWD, good power, same great gearbox, etc)
the 1M, in some ways (interior, gearbox, braking, etc) does feel like a 'super 135'----BUT the suspension setup, the steering, and the behaviour of the car in different situations feels totally different. My 135is would squirrel around a bit under power and on aggressive turning---I don't feel that at all. The 135 is set pretty 'soft' suspension-wise from the factory. The 1M is definitely not! In some ways I actually find the 1M's suspension to be more comfortable as it is more predictable. The bottom line though is that the 1M feels very purpose-built and the whole car feels so together....and so in unison. I've never driven a car that feels so special to drive. The 135is felt like a fun mass production car....the 1M feels like something really special. The 135is did have a fantastic exhaust note and I find the 1M's stock exhaust is different. Less raspy and popping....more of a 'deep' thrusting note.....but I have no complaints---it sounds muscular to me either way. I think those who claim a 'modded' 135 is as good as a 1M are going to find such is not the case unless they do ALL of the mods including M3 front and rear axles as well as steering rack. Without the M button pressed, I'd say a 135is can almost keep up with a 1M....but with the M button pressed I don't think that will happen for long.....especially when the overboost kicks in. I am finding that the 1M is exceeding my expectations....I knew it would be good, but I never realized just how perfect it really is. Amazing. |
