No, the bearings are destroyed upon removal of the axles.

I think I may have found a possible alternative blank rotor for the 135i available in the US. Thanks to brembo/zimmermann for their rotor drawings I was able to come up with something that seems to make sense at least initially.

Given that a 330mm x 20mm seems to work (F10 rotor, e90post thread); I've come across a 330x20 rotor from the 2012 335i that is 330x20x66mm (11mm shorter than stock).

It also doesn't seem to have that flange/shoulder that the F10 rotor has (that required modification to fit with the dust shield).

Its BMW part no. 3421686489, Zimmermann part no. 150290420.

Stock 135i rear:

Hub face to rotor/caliper centerline: 59mm

2012 335i Rear

Hub face to rotor/caliper centerline: 50mm

I really haven't had time to dig into this too much as of yet, but figured I'd throw it out there for those who might know a bit more about it than me (and check if I'm missing something). If it seems like it would be viable I'd be willing to give it a shot.

FCP link to the rotor ($59/piece): https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...99#description
I tried these rotors and they were very close to working, but sat too far inboard. This caused the inside pad to rub and the outside pad to have a noticable gap

So I purchased the ZIMMERMANN rotors, PN# 150.3477.20, from https://spareto.com/oe/34216787931 . They were roughly $207 shipped to my door from Europe. And were here in less than a week. These worked perfectly with the stock 135i calipers and ebrake. Now my 275 Mickey Thompson et streets don't rub at all. 👌

Congrats Datsun. With our original plans I guess you needed a washer, or lost your Ebrake, or had to go to a smaller rotor (mine ended up with the last two). Thanks for the info on what worked perfect for you, I'll go that way when I get a chance, I'd like to have my Ebrake back (at least my car is a auto trans, so less of a big deal).

Are you saying just swapping to these rotors gives extra wheel space on the regular 135i brakes and hubs? Or is this after swapping the hubs?

So with the hub conversion and these Zimmerman rotors I should have no issues with my stock 135i brakes? Just wanting to make sure.

The hub swap with Zimmerman 150.3477.20 rotors fit perfectly.

I have a 2011 128i coupe and will be changing the hubs. I have F8x M4 brakes with the SLG adapters. I also want to do the 8.8 axle conversion and have proper hub depth with narrow hubs. Does anyone know which hub part number is compatible with all of this?

If you want to use the F8X rear brakes and narrow hubs from an E81/E87/E92/E93 then really you want to get some E9X M3 rear knuckles. I don’t believe the F8X rear brakes have an available adapter for the narrow hub non-M setup. I could be wrong!

The hub part number also depends on what handbrake size you’ll be using.

On a different note, that’s a lot of brake and axle for a 128i!

Thanks!
I guess the best option would be to try to find a complete M3 subframe since I plan on upgrading the suspension pieces too.
I am attempting an "xdrive" 128i with a GM drivetrain, 6.2 turbo LS, hence the need for the big brakes and axle.

A full M3 rear end might be easiest and cheapest, yeah. Only thing to watch out for is if you can get a front final drive to match one of the M3 rears (DCT or manual). Or the 8.8 final drive for that matter if you still go that route.

Exciting project! I’ll look out for the thread!

Are the 188L axles required for the hub swap as well (as you did with your 128i), or is the bare minimum just the hub + 150.3477.20 Zimmerman rotor?

Hello gentlemen,

I have a '12 135i and I'm looking for suggestions on how to go about this hub swap.

I have found the hub, bearing, axel nut and clip on Rockauto.ca which I think is the route I'm going.

Which dimpled/slotted rotor do I go with? Do swap to a 335i rear caliper to give me a wider selection?

Any Canadian folks have suggestions on where to acquire these parts? I've always sourced things from germanparts.ca or the dealership to avoid duties and taxes. Thanks.

Alright, I'm going F10 rotor with washers on my caliper.

The E9x performance rotors are quite hard to come by these days and are very expensive from the dealership

Anyone know of a compatable F10 dimple/slotted rotor that works in this application?

As long as they are 330x20 it should work the same way no?
