Starting a 135i HPDE/TT Build
Starting a thread for my E82 135i HPDE/Time Trial build. The car is a DCT shell - due to the N55 having a spun rod bearing, I've decided to swap it to in a built LM7. Going this route for simplicity, torque, and reliability. Not chasing peak numbers, just want something that can take a beating at the track without turning into a maintenance project every session.
Initial focus is on chassis prep (as seen in the photos). So far all the interior is removed. The engine harness and chassis harness are coming out this weekend and the engine will be removed hopefully by next weekend. The first picture is from a couple of weeks ago and the three following that are from today (7/2). ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I will post updates as I go forward along with parts used. |

Well, I felt a little ambitious this morning and decided to tackle removing the chassis harness from the car. Below is 40lbs of chassis harness, not including the door wiring and the big power cable under the car. Removed all the connectors needed for the MaxxECU and/or chassis harness (DBW, Brake Switch, Taillights, Fuel pump, Wiper motor).
![]() Extra picture showing what 14yrs and 250k miles does to the fuel ring. ![]() Next up, removing all the underbody panels and disconnecting the exhaust and driveshaft. |
