These are the only actual pics I've seen. Not the best quality, but the car looks good in black.

Man, I still have no idea what color I should take. Honestly, the orange looks awesome, and actually I think that's the color I'd prefer. But I'm afraid I won't have enough cojones to order it... So, I guess BSM is gonna be my choice again. Alpine white looks ok, but it's definitely at the last place right now.

But again, I love VO, it's just great.

Do you like the slits in the front & rear bumpers, fender crease, infamous cow belly, and other visual aspects of the car? Because the black will hide those a lot more whereas the orange will accentuate them. So depending on how you feel about some of those, that could help you.

That's exactly the reason why I'm not sure about the BSM and why I'd actually prefer the VO. But as I've said, you need some courage to take this color, and I'm a pretty moderate guy. But you've absolutely right, the VO has a lot of advantages.

Order VO if that is color you like best or else there will always be a sense of regret. It always peeves me how some people label others who have cars in bright/unique colors as attention seekers when the fact of the matter is that often that is just the color that particular individual thinks the car looks best in. Don't let what others might think keep you from ordering the car in the color that you think it looks best in.

Interesting, I would have thought the Black Sapphire would be more popular. Personally, I am getting Valencia Orange. I think I would prefer a blue, but with these choices, I actually prefer the orange - it seems to perfectly capture the spirit of the car - and I believe it will be the iconic color for the 1M, since it is exclusive to this model.

I think orange or black looks the best. AW is a great color but it washes out all the aggressive lines on the 1M. I'd still get AW though.

I'm kinda surprised, too. There's also such a poll in a german 1 series forum, and VO is leading as well. The difference is that Black Sapphire is on the 2nd place, while Alpine White is 3rd.

It's a tough call when VO is the highlighted color and really shows off the curves but it's a loud color. The AW is a safe, neutral and many BMW factory race cars are the same color.

Black fo me!

I can't understand why there is so little interest in Black. When clean, nothing looks better than a black car. And in the 1M it will look way badaaaaassss.

Surely my fellow car enthusiests don't have issues with keeping their cars clean. That's why Buick owners buy "old man tan" when ordering.

Maybe because there still aren't pictures of a BSM 1M, so we still can't exactly say how it looks in black (sure, we can imagine, but that's not the same). Otherwise, I'd also be pretty surprised that such few people voted for BSM.

Although I agree, this is why for me. I will only consider this car if it is available in other colors later in the production run. It's really a shame...

The VO realy looks good in person. It is more of a coper metalic than an orange color. I would call it coper with metal flake in it. Or more of a burnt color of orange. But under the lights it is very bright. ie it POPS.

Here are my photos from the Welt...

For those that have seen it in person (Detroit or Europe), looking at the latest Motor Trend magazine where they have featured an Orange Challenger and Bentley GT (both are darker burnt orange), from those pics the VO looks awefully similar. Can someone that has seen these cars in person comment how close (if at all) these colors are to VO?

Yup, I think that was the same color featured in the MT article.

Yeah, the first name for the color that came to my mind upon seeing it in person was "burnt orange".

It is nice. Not too showy. Still curious to see it in black...

Agree.. it's definitely a burnt orange... and no.. the challenger above looks more like the color of the M3 GTS Fire Orange.

University of Texas = burnt Orange = Valencia Orange

University of Tennessee = bright orange = Fire Orange

Noop, the VO looks different. VO is more darker and has a metalic (reflective) flake - look to it, than the Challeger orange above.

VO looks orange under bright lights - but when teh lights down down... it seems to look more coper-ish.
