P052B code Help!

Hey fellow bimmer peeps, My head has been spinning over this code . It always pops up on cold start, the car will start up, rev to 1rpm(as normal) then all of a sudden jump to 1600rpm. Recently I did some research on how to fix it. First I replaced both of Camshaft sensors, it worked for a day but then came back. Then changed my oil and filter, Seemed to help a bit with the engine code not frequently popping up but still the SES light pops up time to time . My mechanic told me its because I dont change my oil frequently enough(I usually change my oil every 8k miles but he says 5k is the way to go). Anyone have any experience on this? Thanks everyone!

I'm getting the exact same problem symptoms as you are and also same code popped up the other day! Do you have any updates or solutions??

I had similar issues when my VANOS solendoid on the intake side went. I have an N51 and the fix was covered under the SULEV warranty 15 yr 150k (i think). Just a thought.

Its been a long time but I figured it out.

My oil was too thick.
I switched from 5w-40 to 5w-30 and fixed the issue.
