Issue: Drivers Door Occasionally Wont Unlock

2012 135i M Sport 6spd

I purchased the car used ~95k and the locks seem to work fine aside from the drivers side randomly deciding to stay locked. The only way to get the door to unlock is pulling the handle and having it manually engage the unlock mechanism. You can feel a slight resistance compared the passenger side.

Has anyone else experienced this? If so what ended up being the issue/solution?

Luckily I am able to open the windows from the fob which makes this issue slightly less irritating.

I'm pretty sure I've run into this same issue as well. 2013 135is model. It seems to happen more when it rains, I think. It normally corrects itself eventually. The window will also not roll down slightly when the door opens. It might be the latch going out is my only guess. I believe most of the control is in the latch mechanism.

What does this have to do with the N54 or N55?

There is basically the latch, and two Bowden cables. Odds are it's the latch.
