Cheaper tire sizes 135i

I was wondering if my 135i Msport with 18 inch wheels would allow for 225/40/18 in front and 235/40/18 in the rear with no speedometer screwups etc? I don't want to get spacers. These sizes are much cheaper, obviously.

The 235/40 are taller and won't match the front. You either go 235 all around, or you can go 225/40/18 and 255/35/18 in the rear. These are popular sizes and should be cheaper than the 215/245 factory sizes.

Do you know if anyone is running extreme contact DWS 06 255 in the rear without issues? I’m running a square set up of 225/40R18 92w and was looking to go staggered.
I have these wheels if this matters.

I am running 255-35 in rear on 313s with no rubbing whatsoever.

Sorry - using Conti DW, not DWS. E88 135i

255/35/18 on the rear is fine with stock suspension (stock or M-sport), and factory wheels. Factory wheels have an 8.5" width and +52mm offset. The wheel you are looking to use is 8" wide and +40mm offset, so it's a bit more aggressive. You might have some slight rubbing of the fender liner or where the rear bumper meets the fender, in full compression/heavily loaded situations. It will be close.

The other issue is a 255 width tire is probably a tad too wide for an 8" wheel. You can do it, but there will be a fair amount of sidewall "bubble", which can reduce handling response and predictability.

If you want a staggered setup and a 255 width tire, look for an 8.5" rear wheel with +45mm or more offset. Fitment on these cars is not easy unfortunately.

For reference - you can use this site or others to compare how wheels fit compared to factory: www.willtheyfit.com

Wow, thanks for the explanation!
I went to town fair and they said I could give it a try and they won’t let me walk away if it doesn’t look right. Im not worried about weight causing it to hit the fender. I’m in a pot hole area I’m more concerned about that. If it doesn’t work out I should be fine with the OEM size right? 245/35-18 ?

Yes a 245/35/18 is a better fit for the rim you've chosen. Good luck.

Is there any harm with the rear being slightly higher than the front? Don't many cars have larger rear wheels anyway?

Sure - but the various systems (ABS, ASR, DSC etc) are calibrated appropriately. You could probably get away with it, hard to say what other downsides there would be.

In this case on an 8" rim a 245 is a better fit than 255 anyway, 255 really would be too wide on that size rim.
