yup...my insurance was near $10k CAD/yr when I got my new 2002 S60 T5 when I was 18. But the coverage is also high. Try finding quotes from smaller insurance companies...may help lower it a bit.

depends... if you say full coverage and in a place like NYC/NJ, and you're 23yrs old, real good.

sorry for the two posts....I just called my provider(state farm) and since im only 21 they have a "steer clear" program.. its an 11 minute videotape and a book, then i answer a few questions and i save about 230 dollars a year!! so that will help a little bit. She is gonna talk to me when i pick up the book about some other programs, etc.

yea, you are PROBABLY right pete, but its probably not a bad idea. FOR EXAMPLE. if there any younger dudes out there state farm, you probably wanna call and ask about that course.
Or if Joe schmo in witchita kansas has Company 1, then didnt change ANY variables , did some reasearch and shopping and switched Company 2 and started saving money, it might be worth posting which companys he has dealt with, becaue its possible that the same perctange earnings could happen in a different part of the countries.
also, i just called geico and it was way more money then my state farm. so if you have geico, you MIGHT wanna call state farm..

I know what you're saying. They jack the rate first then give a discount, but in my case it was the cheapest. Even cheaper than my current insurance company would offer and my current ins. doesn't use OEM parts which Liberty Mutual does. Everything else was like $1300+ for 6 mths.

OMG Nikki $5K, what kind of coverage and what company? I know you need higher limits because you leased, but that's ridiculous.
Sounds a tad high.

I pay almost 500$ a month, with the minimal coverage. Pretty steep but I am young and have an accident on record.

I had Farmers insurance before but they were a lot more expensive. Instead i went through a private agent who has listings for hundreds of auto companies and was able to give me the best rate out of all the major and minor companies. I think it was a great idea and would suggest it to anyone.

Never had an accident or ticket, and I'm at about $600/6months (with a $500 deductable and alot of liability). 4 years ago when I first moved to NY and got my first BMW, I was only paying $450/6months with a $250 deductable on a 2003 325xi.... The rates in NY have steadly gone up about 15-20% per year since 9/11... My homeowners insurance has gone up 50+% in the same time.
