I usually don't even hear clicks because I have the habit of depressing the button while pulling up. Is there any evidence that this may be harmful?

I would say I go up at least 3 clicks, though.

You SHOULD pull the button in when lifting the handbreak. I don't think it does harm either way. Just a rachet really.

I depress so I don't hear clicks... I'd guess I raise it about 2 to 2.5 inches.

2 or 3 clicks. I typically stop the car, put the car in gear and then pull the handbrake up. That way there is less strain on the handbrake.

Does anyone elses ebrake change the amount of clicks required depending on how its parked...I've noticed that when parked in my garage it will only need one click to go up. But it I'm parked on non level, it requires 3

What the? It's a consistent 3 for me, and on steep hills, 4.

3 clicks.

If it is over 3 clicks or if it still doesnt make your car dead stop, go to your dealer. Thats part of the "clean, adjust brakes"

Dont pull it too much when using it. 3 clicks is supposed to be enough. You are also risking of breaking the wire from your handbrake.

Not only is this dumbest thread I've ever seen, I'm actually surprised I'm the first one to actually comment about it.

Seriously, while some of the posts on this forum are great and informative, some are sooooo stupid.

This post and "parking my front wheels 2 inches higher then the rear wheels" post are by far the two dumbest posts I've ever seen in a car forum.

I actually thought coming into a BMW forum there would be more intelligent people.

Man I miss my Audi and vw.....

I use toilet paper to absorb the residue after a single shake. Shaking it repeatedly is just asking for trouble.
