Just wait a couple of years and pick up a used C7 for half off.

I like the StingRay and respect it immensely but probably won't go for one. Not my kind of car.

You'd have to drive it to find out, nothing ever matches the response you get from a large displacement V8 and the mechanical grip you get from a vette. However, 4 seats and a decently big trunk in a car that is close to the performance of a C7 is something to write home about too.

Two completely different classes of vehicle, IMO, and not just in mechanics.

I figured I chime in to see if the old philosophy still holds true?

Corvette any year when it comes out is amazing bang for the buck but no matter what as soon as the new one come out you are now a redneck. That is what I was always told by vette owners as well.

How can anyone like this rear end stock. First thing that would need to be changed is the exhaust tips from four to two.

+1 the rear end is overdone. For me it's the center exit exhaust, just doesnt fit the car. Plus round exhaust tips against a body that has mostly sharp angles. That and the front bumper is just fugly

C7 Vettes look pretty good in black, saw a white one in person and it does look modern with angles all over the place.

If you're looking for a faster car, go ahead, if not, just borrow your bro's car from time to time and keep the M

they are great cars, but... can't help but associate corvettes with rednecks

similar to how some people can't help but associate bmw owners to arrogant bastards

id rather be an arrogant bastard than a redneck

lol

Different cars

I think the new Corvette is probably a fantastic bargain...it was either Car and Driver orMotor Trend that gave a win to it over the Porsche 911 S. They actually liked the Porsche better, but the Corvette was so close in every category, but for half the money, they gave it the win. HOWEVER The 1M has the practicality of a 1 Series BMW...I've had real adults in the back, I drive it in the winter (which I have to do since my other car is a Z3) and treat it like a regular all-purpose car. But then, when the mood strikes, I can push the M button and drive it like a Corvette! And it is nice having the only Valencia Orange flared-fenders BMW in town.

Agreed with the above. Great performance/dollar ratio but that thing looks bloody ridiculous. Why is it so damn difficult for american car companies to design good looking cars?

The only appearance flaw in my opinion is the "drooping mascara" look from the rear which is easily resolved with a $250 body colored trim replacement kit. They also make a C6 retro rear for $2500, but it looks antiquated on the new car.

To me the only "super cars" ie. 0-60 under 3 seconds, lateral acceleration over 1.05 g, etc. worth considering (around $100g), would be the C7 Z06, the 2015 NSX(hybrid power plant) and the 2016 GTR (hybrid power plant). The 916 spyder proves the hybrid offers many advantages.

The 1M will always be a great drivers car, and probably the best and last from a purists standpoint, and practicality makes it the best of everything!
