Item Interest
This is a new '09 iDrive multi button controller for replacement of your '08 single button unit. All you need do is plug in in. It includes the mounting plate and clips for a 1er. It will also work in 3 or 5 series.

I can confirm that this is true plug 'n play. I just installed in 3 minutes and it works so much better than the original iDrive. Even the turning of the knob feels better. Definitely worth the upgrade.

Do the buttons work? Is it a clean fit or it is a kludge? You have a few pics you could post or send?

I'm interested if it doesn't look out of place or rattle around.

I'll answer that. All the buttons work and the illumination works perfectly. It is an exact fit as well. I just used a plastic wedge tool to pop out the original, disconnect 1 plug and plug it into the new controller. The only difference is that the mounting plate is black and my console is tan. IMO, no big deal.
