Austinaslink's PS2 N55 135i Build
Fellow enthusiasts,
I decided it was finally time to create my own build thread and begin contributing back to the community that has provided me with so many answers, ideas and inspiration over the years. I bought my 2011 135i in March of 2017, completely stock. - 2nd Owner - 60,xxx miles - N55 - 6MT - Alpine White - Black Interior - M-Sport Package - Harmon Kardon Sound System - Detailed Maintenance Receipts I was coming from a 2014 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T R-spec that I had done FBO/suspension work on and just simply gotten bored of. I've owned 15 cars in my life, including a RHD 1993 Mazda FD3S RX-7, TT 300ZX Z32, Bugeye WRX, S13 240sx's, BMW Z3, E39 540i, GC8 2.5RS, V6 Swapped MR2 and a few others. I come from a mostly Japanese car background, but have always wanted another BMW after owning my Z3 and E39 540i. There's just something about the solid build quality, sound, and feel that calls to me. Enough about me. Here's some pictures of my 1er shortly after I purchased it. Completely stock, and the perfect canvass for my next project. At the time, the car was going to be my dedicated daily driver, alongside my Yamaha YZF-R1. Big changes on the way
After daily driving the car over the last 2 1/2 years with full bolt ons, I've decided to pull the trigger on a BIG list of mods that I've been eyeing for a while.
The car is officially paid off, and my new plan is to make her track worthy, and begin tracking her in 2022 as soon as we leave Hawaii and move back stateside. Once we move, I will be picking up a Porsche Macan S for a daily driver, and the 1er will become my dedicated weekend/track car. I have loved every minute I've had with this car, and plan to keep her for a long time. Here is the long list of parts I am pulling the trigger on. Most significantly, I am going to being installing a Pure Stage 2 turbo, a Quaife LSD, a Mosselman Oil Cooler Kit, as well as some cosmetic mods. - Pure Stage 2 Hybrid Turbocharger - Spec Stage 3+ Clutch and Steel Flywheel - OEM Blackline Tail Lights - OEM Driveline Center Support Bearing - OEM Driveshaft Guibo - Wedge Custom Tune for 92 Oct & E50 - NEW OEM Turbo Lines – Oil pipe inlet - 11427585402 Oil pipe outlet - 11427585403 Coolant Supply - 11537583900 Coolant Return - 11537583903 - Complete M3 Control Arms Conversion - OEM Water Pump Replacement Kit - OEM Thermostat – Pump Hose - OEM Expansion Tank Hose - OEM Upper Radiator Hose - OEM Lower Radiator Hose - CSF Radiator - BMW Performance Pedal Set - APR Spoiler Stainless Hardware Kit - APR Spoiler GTC-200 V.2 Euro Side Plates - Mosselmanturbo Single Oil Cooler Kit - Hotchkis End Links - YCW/MFactory Rear Axles - RTD Aluminum Shifter (Silver finish, black knob, V3) - Quafe 3.46 LSD - 1m Rep Bumper - Rogue Engineering Trans Mounts I hope to have everything ordered by the end of the month, waiting for Black Friday Sales to kick off to finish my shopping. I plan to begin the installation of everything around Christmas time! Stay tuned for new part goodness! Very excited to be taking my 1 to the next level, and finally be able to make good power to redline! |

Random Pictures
I didn't want to make the intro post entirely too long, so I didn't include all of these.. But here are some of the pictures of the 135i I've collected over the past few years!

Welcome! Car seems to be extremely well sorted out and I love the progress! Those Apex's sure do look great on the car and for whatever reason, the 225/255 setup looks really meaty. Perhaps an optical illusion. Keep it up man! 🙌🏼
What made you decide to replace the UUC Poly trans mounts with the RE trans mounts?

As for the transmission bushings, the UUCs are just too loud to be honest. They add more NVH than any other mod on the car. I am worried once I install the single mass Spec flywheel, the transmission noise will be unbearable. So going back to a more humble transmission mount for now. - Austin Last edited by austinaslink; 11-15-2019 at 01:08 PM.. |

I bought the lip about two years ago off of Ebay. It was only $90 shipped, but fitment was not great. I had to use a heat gun and really put some elbow grease into it. I had my wife assist in holding it to the bumper while I worked it into place and attached it. I do use some plastic trim restore cream every now and again because it fades slightly in the sun.
Still worth the money I'd say. It does a great job at protecting the bottom of the bumper. Here's a link to the same lip; ebay.com/itm/Fits-07-11-BMW-E82-1-Series-H-Style-Front-Bumper-Lip-Spoiler-Polyurethane-PU/282332000781?epid=1841902908&hash=item41bc4c720d:g :jhwAAOSw2KBa6YLW

I like that lip too, I need one. My car had major damage under the bumper when I got it, I'm contemplating fixing it or just buying another bumper. I'd like to fix it when I respray my hood but body work is a nightmare for me. Then I can add a lip like that. Yours looks good.

Took advantage of numerous Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales, and got 90% of the parts ordered. Last thing to order is the Quaife LSD and MFactory axles. Should have them ordered before the end of the month.
Parts will start to arrive this week. I will be posting pictures of everything, and plan on documenting the install of everything the best I can. Can't wait for the first pull with the PS2/Spec Clutch setup!

Pure Stage 2
Well, the parts have started to arrive!
Nothing but good things to say about my experience working with Pure. The turbo arrived to me in Hawaii 5 days after ordering, and I received email updates throughout the entire process. On to the turbo. It came packaged extremely well, and everything appears to be in perfect condition. If I didn't know that Pure rebuilt used cores, I would think this was a brand new component. A few more weeks until the rest of the parts come in, so for now, pictures will have to do.

Hey Petro!
The plan is to have a tune for 92, and another for E50. I'm hoping for around 450whp on 92, and closer to 500whp on E50. If I don't hit those numbers exactly, I won't be too upset. Not going for insane numbers, just smooth consistent power to redline. Reliability and driveability are the most important factors to me.

Another update
The first half of my order from FCP Euro arrived last night! It included the rest of the pieces needed to complete the turbo install, as well as all new coolant hoses, water pump and thermostat and some other small maintenance items. It also included an M-Performance pedal set which I've been wanting for a while, and an 11-piece M3/1M control arm upgrade kit!
I had time to get the pedals installed last night, and they look great! I'm hoping they provide a bit better grip than the standard rubber covers I had previously. Here are some pictures;

Nice and nice!!! Your gonna be busy. All new lines are important. You will read why in my next update.lol
Like christmas time for you.. I was just checking on prices and what all is needed with those control arms. I'm not far behind you on that. Congrats again. Wait until you feel the pull to redline with new turbos. I got my first taste of it today. |
