Brake Caliper Recommendations 130i
Can anyone assist me with my 130i 2006 (Pre LCI) and getting a front brake caliper upgrade for track as there does not seem to be many options. I believe that the LCI brakes may differ? I do not want to pay more than $1k.
Thanks |

Buy the brakes from a 335i, direct fit and larger discs and calipers. They look like ass but have larger thicker discs than the impressive looking brembos on the 135i

Thanks for the heads up. My 130i is a pre LCI 2006. I believe that they may be different from the LCI. In saying that would the 335i brakes still fit?

You could also do the 4-pot Brembo calipers from the current F3x 335i/340i. Look great, stop great, and the rotors are bigger still than the E9x 335i.

I've never heard of any difference in the brakes between pre-LCI and LCI 130is.
Get these: https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/want...ers/1187140561

Because it will require F2x rims to work. 18" would be a cosy fit and only certain wheels would fit.
Stock E8x wheels will not fit. It would also throw the brake bias way off. You'd need to balance it with some shit pads. If it was me, i wouldn't go larger than the 340mm F30 335i/340i front brakes. |

The Gumtree user replied with
"These will only fit F series BMWs due to difference in hubset." I am going to run 17 x 8 Team Dynamics wheeks. Seems like no real solution. I spoke to a guy and he suggested to run rsl29 pagid pads with stock calipers. He has tracked his 130 on these and suggested that genuine rotors are ok due to other manufacturers not heat treating the rotors to perform in track environments. Genuine bmw rotors or zimmermans are good although he heat treats them. |

I run my F30 335i brakes inside 17" SE-16 wheels. They're cozy, but they work. I did need a 10mm spacer to fit them inside my stock Style 256 wheels, but they fit nonetheless.

They bolt straight on. You have to have clean hubs (zero rust) or the hat will not sit flat when you tighten up the little screw.
F20 style 379 wheels can be found quite cheaply, eliminating the need for spacers and you also don't alter your front scrub radius too much. 225/45-17 tyres are also so much cheaper than 18". I'm pretty sure none of the standard E8x rims will clear the calipers without a spacer. I had to use a 10mm spacer for my 261M wheels. F20 18" will be fine. Your pedal will feel a bit different also. I'd offer you my set including discs but i broke the outboard bleeder nipple on one caliper. The F series discs have a very good ventilation design - it is similar to DBA's Kangaroo Paw. That alone would be enough to convince me to upgrade. They are also 30mm thick vs the skinny standard 130i discs. This all means you have much more thermal capacity |

Thanks for the heads up. I have purchased Team Dynamics 17 x 8 38 ET and would you have any indication if these will fit it if I run around 225/45/17 in the front with the 335i rotor and caliper set up?

Sorry, I am only familiar with OE wheels.
At worst, a small spacer is all you will need to clear the spokes as long as the inside barrel of the rim gives you enough space. |
