One of the more impractical mods you can do on a BMW.

Agreed. 0 performance and an absolute nightmare considering the large amounts of brake dust that the 135i generates.

Yes but looks absolutly amazing. It only takes 2 mins to whipe down the calipers anyway...

Since when 0 performance is a factor?

Replacing a heavy item (like the hood or trunk) with a pure CF is one thing, even if the car never sees track time, but lots of folks just wrap their items with CF, making it heavier, just for the checkered look.

Why pick all the options on a car that is performance oriented?

I saw the title and thought to myself, please don't like this... but damn, it looks great against the black wheels. Like other's said though, I'm too lazy to keep this looking good.

If you're referring to my car, which I assume is what you're doing: because it is my daily driver, and even with all the options, it will outperform the sh*t out of many stripped cars. The car can handle it, trust me.

It sits in stock form as I type this, and you can bet your head off that if I upgrade anything, it will not be the caliper color.

I'm sure it can, but it could be better without all those heavy options. So why question somebody about paint their calipers a different color. Why powdercoat stock wheels? Same issue right? I always get laughs about those who question someone elses mods because "they don't get performance". If you're saying they will be a bitch to keep clean, I agree, but who gives an F about performance in a color choice

Really?! How much better could it be without "all those heavy" options (~40lbs)? As far as I'm concerned, that's a negligible difference specially in comparison with other unavoidable variants such as a full tank of gas, or a sunroof as in your case. Electric motors for the seats and a navi screen truly make no difference in performance - if you think it does, I invite you to get on a track with me.
Anyhow, this thread is not about my car.

In my opinion (which I am certainly entitled to one) I don't believe painting the calipers white is worth the extra effort that will be required to keep them clean...it's only a matter of driving and using the brakes for a couple of miles after a wash before the dust starts to settle. So if at the very least the modification will not return any performance in exchange of making me work harder, then it's not worth it to me - but hey, to each his own!

everybody's got an opinion and looks are subjective and the only thing we should care about is if you like it on YOUR car,,,,the rest is BS....Anyway i like Irish Ace's car very much and i am not a white car fan...owned one for 10 years many moons ago and will NEVER own one again....But that's me LOL...As for the white calipers.....Yuck...and i totally agree iseries stud on keeping them clean....I do believe though that a pair of white shoes and possibly a white leisure suit from the 70's would be in order to finish the theme....My dad has a pair of those shoes somewhere in the attic if anyone with a white car is interested...size 12.....He had these to go along with his white vinyl top on his old Caddy.....I would not drive with him in that boat.

I don't wanna race, I'd tear up my pretty tires. But I hear VO adds 37012393930 HP so I would lose anyway

So yeah, everyone is entitled to an opinion, I am questioning why 0 performance has to do with a paint color on a caliper, wheel, or anything else for that matter. I agree it would probably be a bitch to keep clean, buuuut...seems there really isn't a correlation between performance and paint color--go figure.
