N55 135i 0-60mph in 4.4 Sec w/ COBB Stage 1+

Hello 1ers!

Like many out there, I was very curious what kind of 0-60 numbers my car was doing on a Cobb Tune. I finally had the chance to take my car out to a private road and used the Cobb AP's Performance function and was surprised that on a Stage 1+ FMIC on 91 Octane I was doing a constant 0-60 in 4.4 seconds with Launch Control . The outside temperature at the time was 74 degrees and I am on the Stock wheels and Tires. I do not know how accurate the Cobb AP is but I sure hope it is accurate. I spoke with the guys at Cobb and although I am catless they recommended I ran the Stage 1+ instead of the Stage 2 Sport since it would give me better gains. If I could run the Aggressive maps I would but in Los Angeles we only have 91 octane

Hopefully I can test my 1/4 mile time on a track soon! Below is a picture of the 0-60 time, my car, and mod list!

Nice numbers!! You should be able to drop it even more with some sticky tires. I went from 5.3 - 5.2 on (used) stock, to 5.0 (no tune) with Michelin PSS, so you can save some more time there !

Yes, this is very true! I am guessing like alexmtl_135i said, using different tires will help. I will look into the Michelin PSS, any other recommendations?

Crazy how changing your tires shaved off that much time! I will look into new tires, I am due for a change anyways lol

The aggressive map is awesome. Mix in 4 gallons of 100 oct and the rest 91 oct piss gas. The link below seems to be accurate. I've used it a few times.

The factory run flats are not very impressive. Grip is not that great for a summer only tire, they're narrow, and they're very heavy. His new set of PSS were probably wider by 10-30mm.

If you want a good tire, the Dunlop Z2 and BFG Rivals are supposedly the "it" street tires this year for autocross. I ended up getting a set of PSS myself, but I'm under no illusions that they're as good as Z2 or Rivals.

edit: I was able to pull 1.9-2.0 short times with 265/35/18mm Dunlop Z1 aired down a bit on an otherwise bone stock car.

Is the reason you cant run Stage 2 because of your octane, you seem to have the mods to do so.

Well, I can Run stage 2 Sport but the max PSI is 11. On the Stage 1+ FMIC I am pushing 14 PSI and sometimes 16. If I had 93 Octane available to me I would be running Stage 2 + for sure! For now I just clear the Check Engine Light with the Access Port, all the stage 2 sport map did for me was clear the code lol.

I was at a dead stop on a leveled road in 1st gear with DCT Launch Control. I would not be able to measure the wheel spin but it was VERY minimal, maybe a 1/4 of a second if that makes any sense at all.

Here is a PDF explaining what I was talking about. The guys at Cobb recommended I just run Stage 1+ with 91 Octane because I would have the best gains with it and you can absolutely tell.

You should be able to do better than that with launch control. With TC off you start from 0 RPMs so you loose precious time building up torque.

BTW didn't you get wheelspin changing up to 2nd? I was getting that all the time with JB4 on stock tires, but they were kind of worn out :P.

Actually I did 5.47

Don't think I'll use launch control until the warranty is over.

You're missing out . Actually I would rather do the opposite: stop using LC once warranty is over. Once in a while isn't so bad anyways, they put the feature in the car so they probably stress-tested it.

There has been lots of discussion as to whether you void the warranty
by using LC.

Until I see BMW put it in writing that it's OK to use it....I'll pass.

Other manufacturers have LC built into their cars....but it will void the warranty if used. (STI)

I actually did lol, I tend to switch gears at 6k. I find that works best for me when the sport buttons on!
