Rolling noise at 60mph+ on corner after replacing tires n54 135i

Hello,

I installed 4 new tires michelin pilot sport 4 on a N54 135i:
front : 225/40/18 on 8 wheel
rear: 245/35/18 on 8 wheel

There is now a kind of humming/rolling noise (not very loud) on corners at 60-80mph and + speeds (no screeching), espcially when tires are hot.

They made a balancing + alignement at the shop.

For the moment, i only drove like 300 miles. May i need to drive more ?

Before installing these tires i had continental sportcontact with the only difference that it was 215/40 at the front, and i had no noise problem.

What to look first ?

Thanks for advices.

I would contact Michelin... sounds like a bad tire. ?

Do you have access to another set of wheels/tires ? Try switching out one axle and go for a test drive. It sounds to me that one of the tires is bad/defective.

One other thing... look at the tire build dates... maybe one tire is older than the rest. There is a four digit code on the sidewall... like... 0518, which means the tire was built on the fifth week or 2018. All four tires should be pretty close build dates.

Maybe also ask your tire dealer to get you another set of tires... bc your set makes this noise. A bad belt inside the tire can make a bad wheel bearing type noise when at speed.

Look for rubbing on your front tires. What offsets are you running?

I looked at the build dates :

Front : one is 4417 and one is 1818

Is this a concern so ?? Now I remember the dealer called another dealer cause he has only one of the two front tires.

Rear : Both are 1318

I will double check tire presssure, make another road test, and go the dealer to know what is happening.

Your front tyres might be just rubbing against the strut. You have aftermarket wheels 12mm wider than OE with unknown offset and tyres that are 10mm wider than the set you removed.

Hello,

From what i have listened to on Youtube videos, it's more like a humming than a rubbing sound. (Rubbing sound is violent, mine is a constant light hum)

It sounds like a light background sound that appears with speed. (Louder on corner, even on slight corner at 60+ mph, it's also audible on straigt line at very higher speed)

I didn't have the time to go the shop, but will update if i have news.

Also the break-in period is not done, i read some where i should wait 500 miles to be sure.

Maybe too that michelin pilot sport 4 are a bit noisier than my old continental.
