"Attn. Engine start"

Hello, all.

So it seems I now can not start my car without turning on the ignition first. Car starts up perfectly and currently has no codes. Idle is smooth and perfect also.

It's a 2008 135i MT with 64k miles.

The car sat for most of the winter with no tender so I'm assuming it is the battery?

My local Indy shop thought it might be my key so I tried my spare and same result.

Here is the picture for reference:

Try disconnecting the battery for awhile and then reconnecting it to do a hard reset

This. Doing a "battery reset" will fix many issues (weirdly enough).

After you disconnect the battery go back in the car and press on the brake for a little. It will take out most of the residual power out the lines. Wait for 12 hours 24 to be safe before hooking it back up.
