So we've heard this 1M will have 2 model years from SCOTT for a while now... does that mean 2700 total units spread over 2 model years, or is it 1 & done?

That's an excellent question. Hopefully, SCOTT will chime in on this.

The USA is the largest market and is receiving careful consideration in the development of new products. We will not be disappointed.
Sorry to be Captain Crabby, but a turbo M3 = automatic disappointment. I want a high-revving NA engine.

Even though I'm the first on the list at my dealership, with these production numbers, I bet the sales manager will put his name down before me.

WTF!!!! It seems that when BMW finally gets it right in a car and listens to what us enthusiasts want, they have to take it away from us by only making 2700!!!! It seemed to good to be true, a light, fast, raw BMW that we could ALL enjoy, yeah right.

I have a suggestion, buy a 135i and send it to DINAN for a Signature 2 package. The end result is saving money and smoking 1Ms. I know it won't be an M but it will outperform it on the street and track, plus you will get a great deal on a 135 off the lot - probably invoice or below.

The 1M will be available as a coupe (e82) only.

I am not going to let the limited number scare me. It gives BMW an opportunity to test the market, and see how much demand there is for the car. If I look back 10 years ago when I bought my M roadster, that was pretty limited production too. There were only 10000 M roadsters broguht to the US over 5 years.

This 2700 total WW could just be the start, then we will get plenty more in the subsequent years.

The next year it will have DCT, and one of you will have to have that...and I will buy your 1M . I cant wait.

Very happy about the proper manual tranny. F*&^ might have to get rid of the Harley for this sexy beast. Any idea of when it will be released?

No blue or red color, that blows. Imola red would be ideal.

I'm halfway there...

Kay Segler was going on and on about how M1 was going to be this attainable dream. It's turning out to be more of an unattainable dream with the WW limited production of 2700. I hope this is all a BMW marketing scare tactic to get people to go on a M1 buying frenzy and to prove Segler right to his bosses and give him some green light production cred for future M ideas and products. Also the colors, or lack there of, SUCKS. Grrrrrrrrrr

2,700 units? I doubt very much. Not worth the engineering / development cost.

Sounds like a good excuse for dealers to keep the price high (esp outside Europe/USA). I really wonder how much they spent developing the 1M.

David, if you don't mind me asking, and forgive me if it is posted earlier, but how did you get to these facts?

Did you get to ask direct questions to the decision makers? Such as a Q & A session.

Were they directed/revealed to a mass audience?

Many thanks,

Mark.
