well, being the "statistical outlier" definitely has its advantages! You won't have to worry about clearing the codes or have to worry about them coming up during a dealer visit... my guess is that they'll come up sooner or later, and if not, then you're quite lucky.

All he has is the JB+, I don't think it does anything other than trick the MAF sensor...

I'd like to know who sells these spacers and the advantages/disadvantages of using them.
I got mine from AMS. (AMS O2 Spacer) The idea is to just isolate the sensor somewhat from the exhaust flow so that the system is less likely to notice the change. The advantage to this particular spacer that it includes various sized nozzles so you can fine tune how exposed the sensor is if you still get a CEL. The Vishnu n55 downpipe actually has spacers welded to the pipe itself.

The disadvantages are pretty minimal.. Really it's not guaranteed to work, most likely you'll just get codes less frequently. But this is important if you take your car in for maintenance/warranty work because you'll probably be pulling your tune. When you do that, the codes come back and your dealer might investigate.

still no CEL

I have absolutely no idea if this would help, but the only thing I can think of is that I used the brass/copper washers that came on the iCarbon DP O2 plugs when I installed the O2 sensors on the new DP... But, I doubt 1/16th of an inch had any affect whatsoever.

Okay, well i lied. Sort of. No CEL light yet but I am throwing codes P29F4 and P29F5.

I guess that I need to get the downpipe fix.

There's a post on the 3 series forum about steps to get "OBD2 readiness". You can follow those and this will assure you are letting the ECU run all it's tests. Once done, it should pop up a code. I'm guess you're either not driving long enough periods of time, or not at a steady speeds for all the tests to complete.

EDIT: Here's the post: Readiness steps

That's a pretty onerous set of tests. I don't know of any road I can maintain that sort of speed for 15-20mins without ending up extremely far from home.

Agreed. I checked my car again today with my CAN Tool, and I have no codes. CEL has still not popped up. After 500 miles, I'm pretty sure it isn't going to throw a code or CEL.

I have an 08, with JB4 and aftermarket catted down pipes. Without autoclear on I will get a CEL. With autoclear on, I don't get the code. Am I correct in assuming that if I keep the autoclear on until I go to get inspected, the ECU will have no memory, because the auto clear on the JB4 erases it as I go along. I do know I have to set the JB4 to the 0 or stock map to allow the ECU to be read, but fear that when I go for inspection there will be no data to read.

Secondly, I see that you can use BMS down pipe fix with JB4, but the installation instructions only refer to installing into the PNP set up, mine is the do it yourself version, can I install the down pipe fix, turn off autoclear, drive for a while to provide the inspection station something to read off the ECU, and hopefully have no issues. I went this route on my JB3 and had no issue. Help, need to get this inspected, been runnig around with a rejection sticker for too long. Thanks in advance. HELP

I'm having CEL and limp mode issues with my JB4 and catless DP's.. ran great for a while, then not. Sometimes it will be fine, sometimes it keeps happening all day. I feel like when I do throw codes, it continues to act up. If I clear it, it will run fine until the next time it happens. So what is the best thing to do? What should we be doing to make it work as intended? Should I use the auto-clear feature and hope no other serious codes ever come up?

Also, does JB4 O2 sensor modifier work at all times the JB4 is installed? Even on stock map 0?

Hi, sorry for bringing up an old thread.

Is the only way to clear a CEL from catless DP to get a JB4 or Cobb?
Does anything bad happen if you don't clear the code immediately besides the gong and warning? Limp mode?

Thanks for your help. Just got the AA sig exhaust + catless DP and not feeling like dropping another $529 for JB4 or $900 for Cobb, weighing out my options (and still would like to pass emissions).

Are you running all those mods without a tune? I think it's been well documented to get a tune to get the most out of your mods. A tune will usually come with code clearing.

In any case, if you want to clear codes without the tune, I believe there are numerous devices out there that can clear codes. Just do a search. To stop downpipe codes from being thrown, just think about the BMS dp fix - $80.

I'm no pro on all this, but I do think getting a tune is the better option if you don't have one already. Though what kind of tune comes without dp code clearing these days???

My friend said for the BMS DP fix I need to solder my ECU unless I already have a JB4, then it's just a plugin. If I was going to get a tune, it would just be the JB4 tune unless I decide to dish out the extra $$$ for Cobb.

I know to get the most out of the exhaust mod would require a tune, but I just spent over a grand on it haha. Would feel mentally drained spending another 500-900 for a tune immediately so I was hoping for a quick fix, if it exists.

Thanks for the input.
