Should I buy back the car that broke my heart?

I posted here about my one year saga that ended in the death of my 2012 135i. This happened a year ago. Rod bearing failure at 100,000 miles.

A guy who runs a BMW shop bought the car, installed an engine with 34,000 miles, changed all gaskets, belts, fluids, plugs, did the DCT seals and service. His wife has been driving the car for a year, putting 10,000 miles on it. So the car now has 110,000 miles, and the engine has 44,000.

Lo and behold, it is posted for sale by him for just $13,000! I've been driving a Lexus IS350 for the last year. Supposedly has the same horsepower, but it has no soul. I shouldn't hate it because it is in fact a nice car, but I do.

So am I crazy to think about buying back the little car that broke me?

My thought is, what the heck else can you buy for $13,000 that would be so awesome? I'm just not going to pay 40,000 or even 30,000 for a used M235I.

I think you should buy it as long as he agrees to keep servicing the car! Hurry up... someone might break your heart of your too slow buying it back!!

Buy the damn thing even if you just use it as a weekend toy. I am trying to reacquire a few cars my father owned and it's a bitch finding them.

He's like 65 miles away unfortunately. Maybe I could ask for warranty on the work he did.

Nice to know someone took care of the car for the last year or so. It's the crazy owner before that you have to be leery of.
