Installing BMS CP, a couple of questions: I assume the exhaust valve thingie (Red X) from the EOM set up is not needed since the new BMS CP does not have a port for it, is this correct? 2nd, the BMS CP does not have the support tab found on the OEM one (Blue Circle) not needed with BMS CP? 3rd, I found oil residue which was somewhat runny on the OEM CP (Yellow Arrow) is this normal/OK? Thanks.

2013 135is (6spd) charge pipe blew at 2.5 years and 8000 miles. I am 75 yrs old almost never near redline in any gear. Dealer service said they see a failure on 1's and 3's almost daily. Advised to avoid oem part when out of warranty. Hoped BMW would have improved the replacement part. Was told still exactly the same part and to avoid oem part when out of warranty.

Grrr! Some how the OEM CP O Ring got lost when it blew up and no where to be found. Running to Advance Auto Parts to go get an oil filter which comes with the exact same O ring that goes on charge pipe.

I had almost exactly the same happen to me. Even the split in the cp is the same and I lost my o-ring too. Bought an aluminium one off eBay and fitted but noticed some lag at low speeds. Bought the o-ring from BMW but couldn't refit the cp with it in place so left it off. Throttle lag has improved so maybe I tightened up some loose brackets.

When I tried refitting the new CP with the oil filter O ring I had the same thing happened, it was tough to fit in. I forced the CP in then realized that the C clip grooves were not perfectly lined up and I could not push the CP any more. I took the CP back out only to realize that I had cut the O ring when I jammed the CP in. I ran to Advance and got a 2nd cheapo oil filter but this time I lubed the O ring with oil before install and it went easy for a perfect fit. Car has been great since, hope this helps.
