Volume Fluctuation
Good day,
I've noticed in the summer weather, 80f-95f, my head unit will overheat and shut off sometimes. But at times (I haven't narrowed this down to summer temps, yet), when volume is max it'll turn the volume to about halfway and not allow you to go any higher. I presume this is a temperature related issue. 2011 135i w/ BMW Professional Has anyone experienced this? Any ideas on fixes? Cheers, Mark |

I wouldn't be surprised if it shut itself off due to overheating. I get the complaint a lot of vehicles with the iDrive screen shutting off randomly. Only fault I ever find is due to over temperature.
Make sure your speed settings aren't too crazy. I turn that feature off as much as I can. Find that so annoying. Only thing I can think of is BMW is trying to help save your ears. They're forcing you chill your eardrums because you're listening to it at Max for long periods of time. |

I had this happen to me just the other day. 2013 135i with Harmon Kardon. A message came up on the idrive saying something along the lines of "sound system has overheated. Will resume once system reaches appropriate temperature." It came on about 3 minutes after I started the car. It was 103 outside and the car had been parked in the sun for a few hours. Turned on the a/c and drove the car for about 10 miles and the sound came back on. Curious if a fix exists as well.

I'm fairly certain it's overheating. Recently, I've turned the radio off for 5-10 minutes and the volume is back to normal (then shortly gets cut again). |
