Here are some pics that will sell you on this hood. Single Sided is a 23lb weight savings and Double Sided is 28lbs. My revozport hood fit very well. I painted mine but Einser M left his raw cf. I had my Aero Catches installed at Revozport which is a great option for them to offer. Measuring and installing them is a pain and having the hood come that way made it a DIY install.

Looks Incredible! If you intend on painting the hood is it better to get single side carbon or does it not matter?

The benefit of single sides is purely for weight. Single and double sides hoods look identical from the exposed side. The single sided has around a 23lb weight savings vs stock and the single sided has a 28lb weight savings. You can paint either and they will look identical from the outside, but with double sided you can leave the inside exposed which is a nice detail when the hood is open.

My advice when getting any CF hood is make sure you add aero catches or hood pins.

Thx for the info! I really don't want the aero catches, do you feel the hood won't latch securely without it?

P.S. - Clean job on the body panel install. Ride is lookin solid!

it will latch securely without them for regular driving with the stock latch but at high speeds etc. u may want the aero catches for security. THey will help the hood fit better too

In that case, if one was going with no aero catches, would it be more advisable to go with the single sided option as the added weight might help in securing the hood?

I dont think it would make a difference. The hoods are both very ridged. The Single Sided only weighs 5lbs more than the double sided.

I would get the aero catches regardless of single sided or double. If I had to choose between double sided and no aeros or single sided and aero catches, I would get single sided with aero catches.

If you don't use aero catches the hood will not fit well and it will lift at above 70mph due to the air going under it. That's how it is for all the E82 hoods because we only have one security latch in the middle unlike the E9x cars which have two latches.

like yourself wouldn't want the aero catches, i do run them on my track car but never been a fan on road cars, so another option that could work, the aero catches are also available in a flush form and are fully paintable, so they could be easily blended in should you be wanting the bonnet painted.
Food for thought!

Anyone know where to get a CF bonnet with a power dome that doesn't have fitment issues and doesn't lift up with speed?

That doesn't exist unless you get aerocatches. All CF hoods above 70mph without aerocatches will lift for the E82 platform.

Does it exist in aluminium then? Like the e92 m3 - I saw one last year for e82 in Switzerland but can't find it anymore for the life of me!

No because it's steel, and the M3 bonnet is Aluminium. Not a fan of the aerocatches so an alu powerdome hood for the 1M would be so sweet - and probably even cheaper than carbon fiber.

OEM hood only lifts at 130mph+, there's a video of that somewhere. This is due to the hood being much heavier. I remember it being around 50pounds.

Aluminum hoods would be cheaper to make yes but the tooling required to make them and expertise costs alot more money than carbon fiber tooling right now which is why alot of companies don't deal with Aluminum except the OEM's.

But you can buy this hood or any hood for the E82 platform without Aerocatches just be prepared for it to lift above 70mph. Eventually if you keep driving with it lifting at 70+ mph the stress will crack and the hood might fly up and either hit your windshield or just go behind you.
