N54 Vacuum direction

Hi guys, hope you can help. I'm very new to this vehicle.

So with the vacuum canisters, when I check the pressure on idle taking it from the hose to the boost solenoids is it normal for one to draw air and the other to expel air, or are they both supposed to draw.? The rear one that does draw sits at about 15 in.Hg if that helps.
