Borla Mufflers on 128i

What's happening, guys?

I think we all can agree that being able to hear the engine a bit more when driving enthusiastically helps the bond between man and machine.

Anyhow, I've been looking at having a custom axleback made for my 128, and have really boiled it down to two options, the Borla ProXS and Borla XR1. I understand that the XR1 is louder (both flow the same), but just wanted to check-in and see if anyone has used either Borla muffler on an otherwise stock exhaust car. I have no plans to incorporate headers or delete anything. I'm thinking that the XR1 won't be too bad with everything else left alone, but also don't want an annoyance on an otherwise quiet car (cruising).

I don't see a lot of Borlas around here, but I'm gonna cut my muffler out this spring and weld in a Borla. Haven't decided on which on, kinda depends on what's available when I call Summit Racing. I've had Borla mufflers on a bunch of my cars and I just love the tone.

I anticipate that either is fine, but was hoping for some direct feedback.

A Borla Rep could only tell me that the XR-1 is louder and deeper. I imagine that an XR-1 won't be too bad with everything else stock. That said, the ProXS has better size offerings and costs less. I'd go with something that has a Center Inlet & Offset Outlet (reversible), and mounting it like the Berk system for the 135i.

...reviving an old thread. Any input on this? I would have liked a PE for my 128, but they're pretty much gone. I've heard Borla makes a decent product but I'd like to hear one, or at least a few first hand accounts.
