Best exhaust deal?

Is there a better deal out there?

Here's the same exhaust for a little less. Gotta consider shipping costs as well.

I meant value for money. I can get it cheaper since I work at a dealership.

Yeah, you probably get a pretty decent employee discount, right?

I think that's a great price. I have the Performance Exhaust and love it! My favorite upgrade. Get it!

If you want something deeper and louder, check out aFe axle-back exhaust. Comes in black or polished tips too. I really love it, and drone isn't bad at all.

Yes. That would be a downpipe and ECU tune.

There is, cut open the stock exhaust and do the performance exhaust mod. Google it. Cut off the tips and add whatever you want if you want it to look different. Or do slipons. Spend the rest of the money on things that actually improve performance if that's your thing.

It’s a phenomenal exhaust and paired with dps it sounds really raw. (In a true race form)

I agree. this along with a secondary cat delete is just about the perfect exhaust setup that will still fully pass emissions.

The 135i muffler is great stuff though. we got lots of NA members installing them on their 128i, and the sound is great. I'd probably just leave the muffler as is and either get downpipes or delete the secondaries.

Do you have DCT or manual. I have read that the PE can drone a bit b/c the DCT keeps it around the 1800-2300 range. http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=574543

That said I've been considering having a PE Y pipe type set up welded on in place of the stock Msport exhaust resonator.

Personally I think these cars sound really good with the resonator. Have you considered deleting the secondaries instead?

Since you guys are talking about N55s and DCTs I thought I'd chime in:

I've had the Performance exhaust with the y-pipe/resonator delete on my N55 since 2011 and think it sounds great. With the resonator instead of the y-pipe this exhaust would be quieter, which is not what I want. Perfect as is, IMO.

The way I handle drone is to not let the RPMs dip too low while cruising by downshifting in the manual mode, which is the only way I drive this car. Gear selector to the left with the sport button pressed make this car a lot of fun for me.

Sorry, OP. I know you have an '09 with the N54 so this post may not be much help to you.

I like how resonators fine-filter your exhaust sound though. They barely make any difference without overall exhaust volume, just make the car sound better and reduce drone. The resonator on these cars is super good quality so I wouldn’t suggest removing them but it’s also best to experiment with your exhaust and find out what suits you best

Yeah, as you said, you have to find out what suits you best and like I stated in my post above, the PE is perfect for me as is. The y-pipe/resonator delete is part of the BMW Performance exhaust package and BMW has included it because they must think it adds to the sound of the Performance exhaust. I agree.
