I have 5, 112mm bolts left over from oil pan bolt set. Did I get extras?

I was surprised as I had the engine on a stand, and put the pan back on and then today I found these 5 bolts in the package that the bolt set came in. The bolts are all in at the end of the pan butted up against the tranny so I'm at a loss as to where these go. Extras? For a different application? Manual vs automatic? I have the old bolts and I only have 5 old long bolts so I'm assuming these are extra but maybe I missed something? |

Yes, they're extra. I encountered the same thing when I replaced my oil pan gasket, and IIRC the extras are only used on xi models.

When doing any car repairs. I always find in my bucket (used to hold all the screws and bolts ect) extras at the end. Kind scares me really but it forever happens to many people. You either use the wrong bolt or screw in someplace that where it actually fits and holds but the ones left in the bucket aren't useful for finishing the last pieces that need to be added.

Had same experience. Before I pulled the pan on my MT I checked the invoice of the bolt/gasket kit and it said it was for auto. I was pissed, but figured I could still get started. After I got all the bolts out I found that the kit had all bolts I needed plus several extras.
