Tuning a 135i 2009

If you just picked up a 2009 stock 135i with 35k, what mods would you do to it and in what order...??? You have $2000 available in your car tuning acct

With that amount I would aim for a flash tune, suspension, and downpipes. If you have money left over look at a CAI.

If you are on stock rims and tires: non-RFTs and suspension.

Any current mods? (I am on my mobile so I am sorry in advance if they are in your tag)

And if you are in Germany, you might want to check out member Dackelone and his tune that he got from a custom shop.

It depends more on your goals than what we'd do. My mods are listed in my signature in the order that I added them. Best bang for buck mod for sure is a tune. Some suspension mods are good value because they help performance as well as appearance. Have fun!

$2000 ? I would recommend; charge pipe, diverter valves, M3 rear subframe bushings, & sway bars. I see you are in Schaumburg...I know a shop that can do the bushings for $700.

You mean you would actually go out and buy sports seats? Those probably start out at like $3000 a pair!

M3 bushings are stiffer and better performance than stock bushings...you'll have better handling without the bounce. Combine them with sway bars and new coilovers and it's a new car

I'm sure new. Ebay has enough BMW seats so a little patience and research there's plenty of choices for under $1K. And given how much I personally feel the non sport seats suck I wouldn't buy a car without them and if I hadn't known yes I would upgrade.

Tire rack has the Koni Adjustable struts for 167 front and 127 rear each. So about 600.

http://www.**********s.com/AR-Design...335i-335xi.htm For AR design downpipes. $800

And I am sure you could get a used cobb AP for around 600.

So yes you will run a little over. But its not far off. Also depends on if you want new springs too. If so, I would forego the downpipes and get struts and springs and the tune.
or you could blow the whole thing on KW V2. In my experience, the best initial bang for buck mod is suspension.

I agree with this but I would throw into the mix a FMIC upgrade and Cobb AP as alternatives.

Take your pick of brands, but non run flat tires, a tune, and downpipes would be a great starting point. It will totally transform how the car drives. Beyond that, decide what you'd like to accomplish with the mods and go from there.

I have a completely uncanny idea, OP. Instead of asking random strangers on the internet what they would mod, you should drive the car and identify what you think are the weak areas. Then, you can research the existing threads in this forum to identify the potential solutions to what you feel are the car's weak areas. Finally, after you're armed with information, you can make an informed decision about what to do.

Meh, who am I kidding? Throw on some coilovers and slam it to the ground, buy wheels that don't fit and stretch some crappy tires on those bad boys, and then watch as the panties drop, playa.

Do you already find the car unsatisfying? After owning it for how long?

I would at least drive it around stock for a while before deciding what I wanted to change. How could you possibly know what areas of the car need improvement? Most people on here are going to tell you to go right into the power mods. I would lean towards better tires as a first "mod" then go from there. RFTs suck.

The car is great! I am ready for more power though. Knowing I have 400hp+ engine making only 300 is killing me mentally. Besides power though I do feel like the car can ride lower and have a firmer suspension, too much roll for me in the corners. RFT's Do suck!
