BMW 2020 Model Year Production Schedule

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Here is the latest BMW production schedule for MY2020.

While the majority of the models on this list have already switched over to the 2020 model year, there are some still some interesting things to be gleaned from this chart.

The i8, which is one of only three models not yet on MY2020 (the other two being the i3 and the brand new X3 30e) ends early this year, in June. This is due to the fact that this is the final year for that product, and no replacement is planned at this time. However, rumors persist that an M PHEV model borrowing the i8 architecture may yet materialize in a few years. So stay tuned.

The F32 4 Series Coupe is set to end permanently in June 2020 as has been forecast for some time. This chart indicates the F82 M4 will go longer, until October, but this may be an error because it has always closed out along with the Series model in the past. The F33 4 Series and F83 M4 Convertible go a few months longer. While this chart show October for those as well, insider ynguldyn recently moved his estimate from that month to August instead. The F36 4 Series Gran Coupe, on the other hand, will remain in production for one more model year, starting in August 2020.

The G30 5 Series ends in June as usual. However, from July, the updated LCI model is expected to take over.

The F97 X3 M and F98 X4 M will end MY2020 before the standard G01 X3 and G02 X4 rather than having a shortened MY2020 to sync up with them. They may be updated at that time with some of the new X3/X4 features they missed on due to the early MY2019 start.

Wonder if the new "M" digital cluster will be coming for the X3M & X4M in the 2021 model year then. Possible LCI refresh just to include laser lights?

Currently they both have the digital cluster from the current m5 so I'm guessing this will be introduced for 2021 year since they're already in production.

Z4 production is also shown as ending in February. Strange considering both are new or newly refreshed.

So, it seems like all the new 3 series sold in the US will be assembled in Mexico?

No, this document is specifically for the US market and covers all variants sold here.

So, what it shows is that the M340i xDrive is the only model sold in the US that is not assembled in San Luis Potosí (Mexico). The other three models are assembled both there and in Munich, and therefore may be sourced from either plant.

I kind doubt it, looks like all non-M lite car are getting B58C while the respective top of the line (in its class) which are M-lite gets B58D

No. Some BMW models have a regular 12 months long model year that starts in March and ends in February. It all depends on when the model was introduced. In the case of G12 LCI and G29, they started production in March and will continue changing model years in March.

ynguldyn answered this one a few posts above: "In the case of [...] G29, they started production in March and will continue changing model years in March."

There's no RWD M340i for the rest of the world, is there? I thought the RWD version is only available in NA.

Looks like I will be ordering a 2021 as I'm planning on taking delivery in June. Anyone know when the details of the new model year will be available? Hopefully there won't be many changes as I like the 2020 model very much. I would guess BMW will stop taking orders for the 2020's by years end. I'm anxious to see what changes are planned.

It does exist in some non-NA and non-EU markets like Korea, but it was a late addition, and its production has just started in July.

As for Mexico production of US M340i's, there's maybe a handful of them built by now, and there won't be many more over the next couple of months at least - the plant is still not making enough cars to satisfy all US volume, so they're doing the sensible thing and focusing on 330i. And those M340i's are and will be, for the time being, RWD, however, that is likely to change later.

Z4 has pretty much all new tech BMW is offering today. Most likely the new MY, if anything, will just tweak option combos.

Much cheaper to build them in Mexico and then just drive them across the border.
