Gas Cap

I've been trying to find a locking gas cap for my 135. I live in NYC and the parking is unfortunately valet only unless you street park. I've had gas syphoned off twice before and after this Hurricane I bet I'll be syphoned a third time. Any suggestions besides moving out of the city? I'm working on that already!

The gas cap cover locks anytime the door locks are engaged so either you aren't locking your doors or someone is prying the filler cap open.

I said it's valet parking. They have full access to the car aside from the trunk and glove box. The search continues....

Seems like your problem is not the gas cap but shady valet staff. I never valet i just park it myself keep the key and tip the valet guy. I don't trust no one these days, if you ever read the fine print on the valet ticket it basic means the staff can drive your car off a cliff and not be responsible or held liable.

I totally agree, but to pull that off in a NYC garage would require alot more than a $100 tip for the night. Battle wounds are expected where I live. I just do my best to keep them at a minimum.

So the valet leaves your car unlocked? That is a problem.

I found this link at JC Whiteny, but since the gas cap is part of the emissions system, I wonder whether one of these will work without throwing a Chcek Engine light.

Good luck.

Thanks Tom, I'll look into that! It's the attendants that would be doing the syphoning. There's also other transients coming in and out so it would be easy to take advantage of someone's car. From my apartment I can witness all the shenanigans they do to people's cars on the roof deck parking lot. It's disgusting.

My car is parked underground and they leave the keys in the car. They also leave the windows down to prevent locking the keys in by accident. I managed to get them to close the windows after a stray cat had a party in my car. It was either a stray cat or a monster of a rat. I'm gonna go with stray cat, it's less gross.
