battery - where to buy?
I should need a new battery any time now; I think both 135 and 128 use same 90ah battery. Interested to know where people have bought their batteries. Even the dealers sometimes have good prices. I would get it coded after install.

I picked it up from the dealer original BMW battery for 229.60 after core charge.
Coded it myself using carly and a cheap bluetooth adapter online. https://www.mycarly.com/brands/bmw/ Part number for my car (2011 135i) was 61212353810 Standard 90AH lead acid. |

My original battery was still going strong after 8 years but I replaced it proactively with a Dealer installed original. The way I see it this is a once every 8 year expense so the convenience of one stop shopping and no coding hassles is worth the extra expense of maybe $150.

Thanks guys, I'm thinking I'll do the same but I'll see what coding costs from the dealer b/c I may want to use my indy garage guy to do that. Olgeezer1-same guy you have used for performance work.

Hey Mike, Last time I talked to Derek they didn't do any coding. Can't understand how they can work on modern BMW's without that capability. Most U.S. Indy's seem to have full coding capabilities but that doesn't seem to be the case here. By the way, just out of storage 2 days ago.

Derek just sponsored a tech session for the BMW club at his home just for coding. About 20 guys showed up, some already having some experience. No performance coding, just the normal convenience items. I'm sure a couple of other club members can do it just not sure if they have actually done it yet.
I'm still stored with min insurance. I'm hardly driving so we'll see where this thing goes. |

Interesting. Olgeezer, what was the total cost for dealer install of new battery?
My car is 2012 135i but it was actually made in April '11 so it is 9 years old. Never had any trouble so far but I'm not sure what to expect. Do you think age of battery is more important factor or do you think actual mileage used might be just as important? Only 65,000 km on it now. Thanks for your comments. PS I like the car but I'm debating the wisdom of having a costly car sitting there, hardly getting any miles on it! |
