Well looks like the missed the boat on a buying one new from anywhere....

If you have a 128i performance exhaust and want to part with it let me know.

I'm local to the Midwest (Michigan/Wisconsin) but am willing to pay for shipping as well. Thanks.

Many recent posts here, others looking for same thing. I think in final analysis it was to buy the 135 PE and get a muffler shop to adapt it to 128.

I am looking for the relevant post for 135 PE on 128 but cannot find it.

I am sure the adaptation is very easy. but would like to know if anyone has done it and what is the experience. I assume nearly the same as 128 PE but would like to verify.

could you please point to a relevant thread?

I'm doing it right now. I gave up looking for a 128i PE so I bought the 135i PE. Everything is set and I'm just waiting on a 2.75" exhaust sleeve to complete the job.

The outer diameter of the stock pipe where it enters the silencer is about 66 mm and the OD of the 135i exhaust is about 70 mm. You need to cut the silencer off your stock exhaust and also cut the 135i exhaust in the same place. BE CAREFUL CUTTING! I measured 4 times and I still didn't get it right. If I weren't using a sleeve, I'd be screwed. For some reason, the body of the silencer itself may be slightly different. I used calipers to measure the distance from the body out to the pipe and cut the same distance on both pipes, but when I lined up the new silencer, they were about 1 cm off.

Once you have them cut, a shop could probably weld them together without too much trouble. I went a different route. I cut a piece of the new 135i pipe off and used cold weld to mount it over what's left of my old pipe. This way they are the same diameter and I can just use a 70 mm sleeve to attach them.

So far, so good. The first drive after I installed the PE, it was underwhelming. After about 50 miles, it's starting to sound much better. I don't see any real downside to installing the 135i PE except that it's moderately more difficult to install. If anything, it offers slightly lower restriction than the standard 128i PE.

Forget about the 128i PE, you're never going to get one unless someone sells their car. You should get the 135i PE while you can.

@Thunderguts thanks for the write up. I'll look into getting the 135 PE then. Keep us updated if anything changes. Any chance you can take a video of what it sounds like now?

just wanted to chime in to say that an exhaust shop did the adaptation from the 135 diameter of the Remus exhaust I bought to the 128i diameter and fitted everything for $50. I think it does not make sense to diy unless you got the exhaust for free or you really want to play and learn (which is always fun, and respected)

The Remus quad exhaust? How does it sound on the 128i?

it is not the quad exhaust, just an older now discontinued double tip exhaust for the 135

since it is only the muffler section, the only person that will appreciate any difference is the driver, I think. it is slightly louder in general but you will not notice that in the cabin with Windows up during calm driving. No drone at all while at the highway, different more sporty frequency of sound when aggressively accelerating. I am looking forward to better weather to enjoy it with the top down
