Front brake rotor fix.......

I was quoted $930 to replace my front brake rotors. Does that sound right? I've never had to replace rotors before.

And yes, it went from everything was fine with the brakes to the rotors need to be replaced. I've had the dealership and a Euro-BMW specialty shop tell me this.

Anyway, any comments are appreciated!

Are you sure it's only front rotors? That seems like a yuge number...

Seemed big to me also. The Euro place did a fantastic job on my vacuum problem, but I was taken aback by the brake quote. About the same as the dealership quote. And I'm not going to DIY for brakes. No way.

Genuine BMW front rotors are $150 each
Pads + wear sensor $180
~3hrs labor at $120/hr
Total: ~$850

You could bring that down by a couple hundred bucks by going with OEM parts (Zimmerman, Textar) if you and your shop are comfortable with that

OP says just front Rotors though, An indy should be able to do both sides in less than 1hr, so using rates previously shared, should be about $450.

Steps to replace the rotor is to remove wheels/tires, remove calipers and hang out of the way, undo one screw holding rotor, remove rotor, clean and prep to install new rotor, install new rotor, put caliper and wheel/tire back in reverse order. Not very hard at all.

FWIW, the last set of rotors I bought were R1 concept slotted at about $280 shipped for the pair.
