you both seem to be really on point.....

just as an aside, my boss just bought new Audi TT, 3.2 engine, MT.....silver with coral red leather interior (NICE), no nav, 18" wheels.....according to my boss, weight of car is about 3400 lbs and hp is 250.....he told me price of car is 47k!!!!!!! By the way, interior is very very tight and claustophobic.....

if this is true, the 135i I want, similarly equipped but with auto, at a projected 38k is an absolute steal and slam dunk vs the TT at 9k less (!!!!!!), a car that i would think is comparable(size-wise)...

after checking out the G37 at my local Infiniti dealer over the weekend, I was completely underwhelmed...blah styling, heavy, and close to 40k with a few goodies. Is there a Japanese car that can be called a competitor for the 135(rhetorical Q)?certainly not Subaru WRXor Lancer Evo (!)... interestingly,I was never a BMW 3 guy b/c I thought the it was vastly overpriced for what you get, in addition to reliablity issues I heard about secondhand(but I thought the 545 was a beautiful car for the $, albeit too much $ for me to spend on a car)... I thought the former G35(post 04)at 35k was a great value vs the 330 at 40 something.....335 coupe IMO is too pricey at 45k+, which has kept me away......it's kind of like the Goldilocks fable, the 135 seems just right.....

Ride... no. Use them fully... yes. A combination of late and firm braking leads to quick wear. But at least they are free so wear up as fast as you can, in my book.:roundel:

I just got a new job which would allow me to afford a new car (after I pay off my credit cards and such). I will NOT be ordering the year one 1 series. I will most likely wait, test drive it later in the year, see what changes (if any) will be made to the car for the following year and then pay a more reasonable price than MSRP. That's my plan at least

Just a question directed to the more experienced buys, when would you predict the waiting lists will be fully ran through and there will be more available in showrooms? Congruently, when do you think you will start to have real bargaining power as a consumer? I am debating whether or not to order, and the time factor does matter to me because I am in the military and will be non-deployable for about a year and a half from now. I would like to play with my 135 before I have to leave it behind for 15 months.

I will wait for a Test Drive and the R & T/Car&Driver reviews. From what I have read to date I believe the wait will be difficult but worth it. BTW, I don't owe too much on my G35, so I may convert the equity into a 3 year lease.
To ARES45: BMW does not do a lot of horse trading on the price here in Dallas (Classic BMW, one of the oldest dealers in the US and BMW of Dallas)
