Talking Freshly cleaned, clayed, and photographed. ONR and Detailed Image Rock!

HUGE shoutout to the guys at Detailed Image for answering my questions and getting me hooked up with a hoseless, no-rinse wash kit. I compared the prices with amazon and it was actually cheaper even with Prime's free shipping. Their write-ups are also amazingly helpful, I followed this procedure for washing my car.

Got a ton of junk and went to town last night:

Look at the dirt on the hood!!

Getting set up

Halfway done, look at the hood again.

My process was as follows:
  • ONR No-Rinse two-bucket wash, drying as I went panel by panel with the waffle weave supplied in the kit.
  • Made the clay lube mix with the ONR wash and did two passes with a clay bar, wiping with a microfiber as I went.
  • Optimum detailing/gloss spray over the whole car, wiping down with a microfiber.
  • Simple spray wax over the car to give it a bit more protection/shine.
  • Cleaned the wheels and calipers with the "big blue" grout sponge, worked wonders! Used the same ONR solution for this as well. Wiped them down with a clean cotton towel.
  • Polished the pipes with a little ONR and a non-stick pan friendly scotch pad.

All clean! Next step would be some serious paint correction at some point.

Looks awesome....I used to live in a hirise with an indoor communal garage and no water hose/water access when I had my FBO E36 M3 and found ONR to be just what the doctor ordered. Do you still have your winter tires on? They look just like my Pirelli Sottozero Winter 210s that I have mounted on 4 rims ready for winter use!

Very nice! This made me go out this morning and use quick detailer on my car haha.

I originally thought this color was the 'deep sea blue' color as my car, until I saw and googled Metallic Black. Love this color and photography.

I see you are also a local in Washington DC. Maybe we'll run into each other. I'd love to hear the Berk Street in person.

Here is my 2011 135i convertible that I only had for 3 months. I've only done cosmetic modifications so far.

Your car looks great! Go to this site and run your VIN, you'll be able to see exactly what paint your car has as well as all other options.

http://www.bmwvin.com/

We should meet up sometime, I'm not usually driving in DC, mostly in MD and VA.

I think what Chris13002 was trying to say was he originally thought your color, which he ended up describing as "Metallic Black" (but is really called Carbon Black), was the same color as his, which he knows is Deep Sea Blue. Maybe a little confusing. Haha

BTW, I am partial to blue colored 1ers and I think both of you guys' cars are beautiful. Also, I have never seen so much blue in Carbon Black as I do in some of your photos. Really a nice color and nice pics.

Haha now I get it, the three dark blue colors these cars come in are so close in different lighting scenarios.

Thanks for noticing the effort I took to get the lighting right, it's not always easy pulling out the blue hues in this paint. But when you catch them it looks fantastic.
